And yet, as I hold a dense mask with those rubberized dreadlocks in my hand, studying every crevasse and hanging mandible from that reliably ugly face, I find myself inexplicably moved, as if playing Hamlet to an intergalactic and homicidal poor Yorick....

Nintendo has announced that it will be hosting a Super Smash Bros. tournament at E3 this June, giving players their first hands-on opportunity for the upcoming Switch instalment in the frantic beat-’em-up franchise. The tournament will be held June 11 – 12 and will also feature the Splatoon 2 World Championship, although the Smash Bros. event is invite-only that sees top players hand-picked by Ninty themselves. Splatoon’s tournament meanwhile will see four teams that qualified across the United States and Canada, Europe, Japan, and Australia duking it out....

Sega has released a couple of new trailers for Sonic Forces, the first trailer showing off a very brief look at the game’s new Tag Team system. This is followed by a second trailer that reveals a brand new techno dance track for Metal Sonic. Sega really missed a trick there. First up the Tag Team gameplay teaser gives us our first look at the new co-op system. Everything seems to be moving along at quite a clip, and seems like a more refined version of the modern Sonic games....

Take-Two Interactive has no plans to open its own Epic-style games store, according to the company’s CEO. Epic is here to take on Steam with their very own digital distribution platform. They’ve already corralled a few exclusives, such as the upcoming Tom Clancy’s: The Division 2 and Metro Exodus, and plan to offer more in the future. Those exclusives were snagged in no small part to Epic’s more generous profit sharing, which gives 88% of the profit back to the developer instead of Steam’s 70%....

Whenever the topic of video game franchises that would make good MMOs gets brought up, one common answer is Nintendo’s Pokemon series. The idea behind Pokemon seems to lend itself well to an MMORPG, though for one reason or another, Nintendo has never pulled the trigger on that idea. With Nintendo reluctant to pursue a proper Pokemon MMO, developer CremaGames has announced a new IP called Temtem that looks to be the Pokemon MMO fans have wanted for years, and it is coming to Steam early access on January 21, 2020....

Tesla’s Sentry Mode keeps a sleepless eye on your EV when you’re not there to watch over it. The program uses your vehicle’s cameras to monitor the surroundings in all directions. Good news for the Tetris 99 faithful: the free-to-play battle royale puzzler has just received a new update adding in a “Team Mode” option. Four squads of roughly 25 players will face off against each other to win a Tetris Royale! Now when you ask where you’re dropping, you can mean that literally! The way Tetris 99 will handle team play is functionally the same as solo. Everyone will still get their own board, but combos and line clears can be coordinated among a group of players....
