There are a great many small details that help make The Outer Worlds so memorable. Most of them go into giving depth to the experience of playing Obsidian Entertainment’s new RPG, but some are just there for laughs, like the inclusion of Obsidian’s Dungeons and Dragons characters in The Outer Worlds’ credits. But it turns out that these Easter eggs can get even more self-referential, the kind of in-joke only the game’s developers are aware of....

Street Fighter V will be getting a PS4-exclusive online beta from July 23rd. Sony made the announcement during its E3 press conference. There will be three separate beta phases, but only the first has been detailed thus far and will remain exclusive to PS4. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is continuing to break records for Nintendo, as the game has sold over three million units in the United States of America since it was released eleven days ago. Nintendo has issued a press release stating that Super Smash Bros. Nintendo’s recently released Zelda news channel, Tips from the Wild, will grant the player in-game items after subscribing to it. The first Tips from the Wild post informs the player that they can feed friendly animals, and gives the player some free items to try this out. The best bit is this can currently be done over and over again, if you’ve got the time, to farm a bunch of free goodies for use in game....

Photo mode has been added to Sable, so you can delight in its glorious Moebius visuals. Once enabled in the settings, players can access the mode and snap away. The team at Shedworks also have a photography competition planned, as noted in the latest update blog. That same blog also details a number of other fixes and additions to the game. Most importantly, changes have been made to the camera to reduce motion sickness when riding vehicles....

If you feel a little… shall we say let down, after the release of the long awaited Duke Nukem Forever, it’s okay. Techland, the developer behind Dying Light, has announced that it is working on an open-world fantasy R.P.G. The company’s CEO, Paweł Marchewka, said in a statement: “Our ambition is to introduce a brand new IP that is vastly different from what we have been doing for the past several years. It has been a good year for DC’s Teen Titans. Just a year ago, Teen Titans Go! to the Movies hit movie theaters. Since then, the characters have starred in a storyline in the MMO DC Universe Online and had a successful first season launching the new DC Universe streaming service in Titans. Now, the characters are being relaunched in an excellent new original graphic novel run starring individual characters by YA star Kami Garcia, with pencils by comics newcomer (but fan favorite) Gabriel Picolo....

Dotemu has dropped a launch trailer to mark today’s release of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge. The side-scrolling beat-em-up is an all new homage to the classic Konami games of old, and the classic 1987 cartoon. Donatello, Raphael, Michelangelo and Leonardo are all here thanks to retro experts Dotemu and Tribute Games. The famous foursome are not alone either, as the game also lets you play as April O’Neil, Casey Jones and Master Splinter too....

The soundtracks for the games of the 16-bit generation is where the music started to sound less like simple chip tunes and more like something you might hear on an actual album. The hardware in video game consoles was at last getting close to the level of CD quality audio. This allowed for more varied styles and sounds; the SNES even had pre-sampled instrument sounds for composers to use. The Suikoden series was first launched in 1996 in the west and quickly gained a cult following among Japanese RPG fans. While it never achieved the global status of Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest, the series stood out among its rivals.
