Knockoff video game peripherals have been around for nearly as long as video games themselves, and, while there shouldn’t be anything wrong with some healthy competition in the marketplace, everyone knows the pain of putting up with some crumby off-brand controller because there’s nothing else around to use. Often branded as ‘little sibling’ controllers because kids would often force them on anyone but themselves, just about everyone can relate to losing a match of Crash Team Racing because the shoddy Mad Catz controller sputtered out at the last second, and who can say how many cheap victories have decided heated head-to-head home Smash tournaments brought on by less-than-reliable third-party equipment?...

A father has been arrested after he sent his toddler inside an arcade machine to steal Nintendo game consoles. Dad of the year material here, folks. We get that times are tough and every parent wants to be able to afford the latest Nintendo console for their kid’s birthday, but stealing is not the way to go about getting a birthday present, and sending your toddler in to do the stealing and running the risk of getting her stuck is definitely not cool....

The Elder Scrolls VI is currently in the ‘pre-production’ phase, Bethesda’s Todd Howard revealed during a chinwag on the YouTube E3 Coliseum event. Speaking with host Geoff Keighley, Howard also confirmed that the sci-fi epic Starfield, which was shown for the first time at Bethesda’s E3 showcase, is in full production. ‘Starfield is playable, Elder Scrolls VI, not in that way,’ he said. Interestingly, Howard seemed to indicate that The Elder Scrolls VI might be a next-generation game....

Embark Studios has announced a new first-person shooter called The Finals. It is a free-to-play shooter than focuses on fast-paced team-oriented PvP. The reveal of The Finals was made through a flashy trailer posted on the game’s official YouTube channel. A quick watch of the pre-alpha gameplay trailer will probably give FPS fans déjà vu. As you can likely tell, The Finals shares some common features with EA’s signature Battlefield franchise....

A new smithing method has been added to Old School RuneScape. Today’s update introduces the Giants’ Foundry to OSRS, bringing with it a new Smithing minigame and a new quest. Not including smaller updates like lovakite ore and crystal gear, this is the first major piece of content added to the Smithing skill since OSRS‘ launch in 2013. The Giants’ Foundry is a minigame where players have to create swords customized to fit their client’s request....

Paramount Plus has announced that the Halo television series will finally be arriving on screens on its service in the US from 2022. The series had previously been said to be debuting on the Showtime network, as they are the production company behind the adaptation. However—as reported by Deadline—it was announced during the ViacomCBS Streaming Event last night that the show will now be heading to the Paramount Plus service in 2022....

Director Robert Eggers has said some of the dialect was inspired by the work of Maine writer Sarah Orne Jewett while other literary inspirations came from Samuel Taylor Coleridge, Herman Melville and Robert Louis Stevenson....

Rumours are rife that the next Need for Speed game will arrive this November for the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles exclusively. Said rumour comes from Jeff Grubb on his Grubbsnax podcast on Giantbomb. As transcribed by Video Games Chronicle, Jeff says that publisher EA is still looking at a release later this year. “Need for Speed is still coming this year – that’s true, that game should be coming in November,” he said....

Although 2019 didn’t have as many great games as previous years, among the good games that came out last year was The Outer Worlds. This FPS with heavy role-play elements blew everyone away with the sheer amount of content it offered, weapons and armor being a big part of it. Unique weapons in The Outer Worlds are weapons that usually have special names and aren’t as easy to find when compared with regular old assault rifles and such....

Your Sims stories need to continue on, and the only way to do that is your Sims getting pregnant and carrying on their legacy. There are many ways to play the game and you don’t need to have Sim babies if you don’t want to; however, if you plan on playing a legacy game in The Sims 4 with multiple generations of the same Sim family, you’ll probably want to have your Sims trying for babies pretty regularly....

Super Mario Maker 2 will be receiving a special pre-order bonus in Europe and Japan that includes a stylus that is compatible with the Nintendo Switch. The original Super Mario Maker was one of the few Wii U games to make full use of the GamePad, as players could quickly jump between sketching the stage and actually testing it out. Super Mario Maker 2 is doing things a little differently by allowing players to either create stages using the controller while the Switch is docked or use the touchscreen while the Switch is in handheld mode....

Nintendo has released a special Nintendo Direct presentation over the weekend that had Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto giving us a tour of the Super Nintendo World theme park ahead of its opening at Universal Studios Japan next year. The tour has Shigsy taking us around various aspects of the park, including the entrance warp pipe that leads into Peach’s Castle complete with the music from Super Mario 64 and some very recognisable images on the wall....
