There have been some rumblings that Sony, along with developer Naughty Dog, decided to release its The Last of Us Part 1 remake for the PlayStation 5 (and eventually PC) to capitalise on the upcoming HBO series inspired by the game. However, PlayStation head Hermen Hulst has made it known that this is not the case. Well, at least, it is not entirely the case. Crows Crows Crows and Galactic Cafe have announced the long-awaited release of The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe will happen early next year. The expanded version of the 2013 PC game has been in the works for some time, having originally been pegged for a 2019 launch. Fast forward several delays later, and an appropriately humorous video has declared it’ll finally launch on consoles and PC in early 2022. Robotic slash-em-up sequel The Surge 2 seems to have a release date announced, thanks to a listing on the Microsoft Store that has cropped up. As spotted by WCCFTech on the Australian Microsoft Store first, the listing’s release date has been set as September 24 later this year. Announced last week as part of the Rainbow Six: Siege Operation White Noise update, the new map coming to the game is Mok Myeok Tower high about the streets of Seoul. The PS4’s Tearaway Unfolded will be getting a companion app for mobile devices and tablets, Media Molecule has confirmed. In a PlayStation Blog post, creative lead Rex Crowle provided details about the forthcoming companion app. “Using the app, you can access the cutting mat to cut out new creations, customise your characters, re-texture the world with photos and collaborate on creative challenges! Everything you create using the app is sent directly into the game, instantly appearing in whatever scene you’re currently playing,” Crowle writes....

Tequila Works has announced that Chinese conglomerate Tencent is now the studio’s majority owner following investment by the latter company. The Madrid-based developer announced the deal in a press release yesterday. It said that the deal would “provide it with the means to take its games to the next level”. Tequila Works has been responsible for a slew of games, including RiME, The Sexy Brutale and Deadlight.
