SNK has dropped in a couple more fighter reveals for upcoming brawler The King of Fighters XV since we last checked in, including two characters with a long history with the franchise making their triumphant return. In what has come as a rather unexpected move, the Nintendo Wii U has received an OS update. Update 5.5.2 is now live and ready to download for the remaining Wii U users out there. But, interestingly, note was also datamined in the update that may indicate the end of the Miiverse. The update 5.5.2 hasn’t increased the speed of the console’s UI, nor does it make switching tasks any easier, and the Miiverse and eShop still take an age to load....
Nintendo has announced that The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD will be heading to Nintendo Switch this July, giving the 2011 Wii game a lick of paint and a few other modern tweaks. The big change here will be that the game’s motion controls—that saw in most examples the player control Link’s sword with one Wiimote in one hand and his shield with the Nunchuck in the other—will be optional....

A Twitter user named Nibel has revealed that certain USB keyboards that are connected to the PlayStation Classic will allow you to access the system settings, which offers a lot more options than what can normally be accessed, such as adding scanlines....
When it comes to game events like today’s Summer Game Fest, I typically only become interested in around one or two announcements. This certainly remained the case with today’s Devolver Digital showcase. Most of the event consisted of strange skits that featured groan-worthy meta humor and Goichi Suda doing random stuff. Netflix has announced that Jodie Turner-Smith will be playing the lead role of Éile in their forthcoming The Witcher prequel series, The Witcher: Blood Origin. Announcing the casting on the official NX Twitter account, the company also revealed that her character will be “a fierce warrior with the voice of a goddess” and the series will “tell the story of the first Witcher protoype” and the “Conjunction of the Spheres” —a huge cataclymsic event from the original novels that brought the magical and mythological creatures and beasts into the world of The Witcher....
Streets of Rage 4 still doesn’t have a release date yet, but the teams at Dotemu, Lizardcube, and Guard Crush Games have attempted to tide us over with a punchy gameplay teaser for the upcoming beat-’em-up sequel. If you’ve ever played a Streets of Rage game before (and if you haven’t, then what’s wrong with you?), then you’ll be pleased to know that SoR 4 looks very familiar. There’s new stuff to see, and the visuals are obviously more polished, but the spirit of the Mega Drive games is definitely there....
Streets of Rage 4 finally got a launch date: April 30 (via Eurogamer). The next game in Sega’s Streets of Rage series is on its way to PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. It will also appear as part of Xbox Game Pass on the same day, so fans will be able to dive in no matter how they play. There will be a limited physical release for the PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch, with a standard edition with reversible box art and a classic edition with a steelbook case and a Genesis-esque clam-shell case....
Super Mario Maker 2 is enjoying a second week at number one in the UK games charts. As reported by GamesIndustry.biz from UKIE/GfK data of retail sales, the DIY level building smash has retained its position – perhaps unsurprisngly, during a traditionally quiet period in the game release calendar – after becoming the biggest Nintendo launch of 2019 last week. However, a few other older Nintendo Switch Games have also seemingly enjoyed some benefit, with both Super Smash Bros Ultimate and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild both jumping back into the top 10 at numbers 5 and 9 respectively, and the multi-format Mortal Kombat 11 uppercutting its way back from 24 to this week’s number 10 position....
Suddenly, Banjo and Kazooie are now in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. They were announced back during E3, but the manner in which Sakurai talked about them made them feel far away. Now, after a stacked Nintendo Direct, the bear-and-bird duo are here. So how do they play? Decently. Nothing in their kit makes them seem as drastically overpowered as Hero and Joker did at launch. Instead, Banjo and Kazooie are a solid all-around fighter that will depend on the player to draw out their true potential....
The situation is similar with the Grey unit, only stock is not expected until March 10. If these dates are correct it would appear Nintendo has managed to deliver on its promise to supply regular Switch stock to retailers.
