Over the weekend, developer Techland attempted to stir up some additional excitement for the impending arrival of its parkour-infused open-world zombie sequel Dying Light 2 by claiming players would likely need to set aside “at least 500 hours” to fully complete the game. The statement perhaps didn’t have quite the desired effect, however, drawing ire from skeptical fans, and the company has now offered further clarification, saying the game should only take around 20 hours to beat at its most fundamental level....

Earlier this week, YSNet released the first teaser trailer for Shenmue III on the PS4. It was interesting to see that Shenmue III was actually real, but what was quite concerning were the characters in the trailer. Specifically, the whole dead behind the eyes look to everyone. Thankfully this lifeless affliction is only temporary according to YSNet founder, Yu Suzuki. The Last of Us Remastered will include an option to run at native 4K on PS4 Pro, according to a new video report by Digital Foundry editor Richard Leadbetter. Reporting back from this week’s PlayStation Meeting, Leadbetter explained that he had been told by Naughty Dog that the 30fps mode featured in the current PS4 game will actually be enhanced to run at native 4K resolution on PS4 Pro, significantly higher than its current 1080p resolution....

At the start of Deadpool 2, Wade Wilson informs us in a cheesy voiceover that the 2018 Marvel sequel is really “a family film.” Captain America: Civil War never explicitly states the same, but it is. There’s so much family history and so many ‘made’ family elements interweaving throughout the movie that this really was a test to see if the Russo brothers – returning to helm another Cap outing after The Winter Soldier – could not only handle bringing so many characters together on screen, but if they could make the audience give a damn about all of them in 147 minutes....

Microsoft Flight Simulator is only a few days away now. The game officially launches on August 18 via Steam and through the Windows Store. Xbox Game Pass members will also have day-one access on PC. Ahead of launch, Microsoft released a trailer detailing the planes and airports in the game, rendered in real time. It also showed the differences between each version of the game. We’ve known for awhile that this is beautiful game, but the new Microsoft Flight Simulator trailer confirms it....

The Outer Worlds 1.1.1.0 patch now lets players tweak the text size in the game for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One versions, as well as fixing a few big bugs (via GameSpot). This feature came to the fore from fan feedback who expressed their annoyance at how tiny the text is. I can corroborate this; I spent the majority of my time gallivanting across the Halcyon colony sat cross-legged on the floor one foot from the TV....

Sony has submitted a patent describing sensors on the PlayStation 5 controller that would track biofeedback and change the experiences based on this (via VGC). RespawnFirst got its mitts on the patent, and it shows that these sensors would be placed on the grips of the DualShock 5. Electrodermal activity (that’s sweat) and heart-rate would be monitored in real-time, and the processing device would use this data to alter the gaming experience....

Razer is a company that continues to impress me. It has so many gaming-related products these days that combine quality with good design. I remember when it was a bit of a joke to consider buying anything besides the OEM brand for controllers. I won’t name any names, but you definitely wanted the Nintendo, Sony, and Microsoft-made products. Companies like Razer have turned my opinion in recent years though, thanks to products like the Wolverine V2....

Ubisoft still has yet to fully reveal the upcoming Splinter Cell remake, however, we now know that its story is getting a rework. Announced last year in December, the remake is the first good news fans of the franchise have heard in many a year. The Splinter Cell remake will be “rebuilt from the ground up,” and, as discovered by PSU, that includes some or all of the game’s story....

Apex Legends has easily become one of my go-to games to pass the time. Prior to that, Rocket League served as one of my favorite time sinks. Much like that game, it’s easy to play match after match in Apex Legends, only to notice that a few hours have passed since first booting up the game. I’m not sure as to why Apex has grown on me so much. Maybe it’s the ping system that works so seamlessly in combat, or maybe it’s just the simplicity of a three-person squad....
