My favourite remakes tend to be a little disrespectful towards the games they’re remaking, engaging in mildly subversive dialogue with the old creative choices, rather than just trying to ‘improve’ them in accordance with the expectations of the day. As such, my pick of Tactics Ogre: Reborn’s new features is a rebellious flourish - the buff card system, a cousin of the returning Tarot cards from the original 1995 launch on SNES....

Today, acclaimed publisher Team17 and developer Super Mega Team announced a partnership to bring their deck-building Metroidvania, The Knight Witch, to PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch and PC later this year. Accompanying the announcement is a new trailer showcasing the 2D action-adventure title in all its glory. Due to the demise of Top Spin, tennis games haven’t had much in the way of great games in the last decade. That is, save for the Tennis Elbow series, which has neatly offered the best in the genre that can be purchased on Steam. Of course, the last game in the franchise was released years ago. Today, though, Tennis Elbow 4 has entered Early Access, bringing with it new features, customization options, nicer graphics, and more....

Tetris Effect: Connected is getting cross-play alongside several new modes in a free update coming to all versions of the game—including the original Tetris Effect—next month. The update will introduce Room Codes, allowing players to invite others to a game regardless of if they’re playing on PlayStation 4, PC, Oculus Quest or the Tetris Effect: Connected release on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. It includes Spectator Mode, allowing 4-6 players on any platform to spectate and even send reactions as they watch....

Fortnite professional Turner “Tfue” Tenney has filed a lawsuit against his esports team, FaZe Clan, claiming he is under an “oppressive, onerous, and one-sided contract,” according to USA Today. The 21-year-old gaming personality has gotten the ball rolling with the California Superior Court in Los Angeles and has stated that the team takes up to 80 percent of earnings brought in from third-party sources for his services. Tfue is claiming that the organization - which has pro teams participating in contests for games like Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Counter-Strike - has their players sign agreements that make it so they’re essentially owned by FaZe....

Ubisoft open world driving game The Crew 2 will get a fifth year of free content updates, beginning in July. This will include new cars, events, rewards, competitions and improvements. But the biggest change - and one of the most requested by fans - will be the addition of current-gen support. Native version of The Crew 2 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X will see the game bumped to 60fps, among other changes....

Sony Pictures Entertainment has released the first full trailer for its upcoming movie adaptation of Capcom’s Monster Hunter, following on from last week’s teaser trailer. This time around there’s a lot more meat on this trailer’s bones, giving us a much better idea of how Milla Jovovich’s Captain Artemis and her unit manage to get from our world to the one of oversized monsters, giant swords and muscular cat chefs....

Today SNK released a new trailer of its upcoming fighting game The King of Fighters XV. This time around we get to see something different from the usual character reveal, and specifically a DLC costume that will be offered as early purchase bonus. It portrays Terry Bogard in his costume from the 1999 fighting game Garou: Mark of the Wolves. If you get the downloadable version of the game, you’ll have to pick it up by March 9 if you want the costume....

The Pedestrian initially set sails as a Kickstarter campaign, seeking a modest $21,000 USD. This goal was surpassed with backers chipping in more than $30,000 USD. This was more than what was needed for the team at Skookum Arts to get, uh, on its feet. The project initially had a release date of June 2017 listed on its Kickstarter page. But as we’ve seen over the years in the video game industry, we know that those don’t equate to a full game release or even backers getting what they paid for....
