Take Two is heading to court as it faces a lawsuit over the use of WWE Superstar Randy Orton’s tattoos in their licensed WWE 2K games, it has emerged. As reported by the Hollywood Reporter (and spotted by GamesIndustry.biz) both Take Two and the WWE as well as former developer Yuke’s Software are being taken to court by tattoo artist Catherine Alexander, who was responsible for the art of six of Randy Orton’s tattoos....
Grand Theft Auto V has now shipped over 90 million copies worldwide since its initial release in September 2013, Take-Two said during its earnings call overnight. Not only that, but players are apparently fine with chucking their money at its multiplayer mode, with GTA Online microtransactions still raking in major dollars. Despite this, Take-Two’s bigwig Strauss Zelnick noted the industry behemoth is ‘focused on players, not payers,’ and that by providing gamers with free, compelling content for GTA Online ‘the monetisation will take care of itself....
Take-Two is finding itself in a new legal battle after a cease and desist letter was issued to the publishing giant by Pinkerton Consulting & Investigations, the modern-day incarnation of the Pinkerton Detective Agency formed back in 1850. Rockstar Games’ Red Dead Redemption 2 makes numerous references to the Pinkertons throughout its story, as the organisation is responsible for hunting down protagonist Arthur Morgan during the game. As a result, Pinkerton Consulting is now requesting that Take-Two pay an unspecified lump sum fee or a share of royalties down the line....
Team Ninja, the developer of the Dead or Alive, Ninja Gaiden, and Nioh series, would leap at the chance to make a new game for the PlayStation 5 (via Push Square). Nioh 2 is coming in March, and given the positive critical and commercial reception to Nioh, people are keen to know Team Ninja’s next move. In an interview with IGN, game director Fumihiko Yasuda said that it would be happy to return to Ryu Hayabasa’s saga....
Today Netflix revealed a new video game-inspired anime that will be aired over the popular streaming network, Tekken: Bloodline. The anime is, of course, based on the Tekken fighting game franchise, and appears to focus on Jin Kazama. The long-awaited summer update for Temtem has finally arrived. The patch adds the first new island to the Airborne Archipelago, Kisiwa. A new animated Mortal Kombat movie is slated for release in the first half of 2020 by Warner Bros. Animation. Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge features many of the series’s most iconic characters and will feature an original story. Scorpion’s Revenge will also feature a variety of seasoned voice actors and television stars, such as comedian Joel McHale as Johnny Cage and Dexter’s Jennifer Carpenter as Sonya Blade.
