We had a busy weekend for gaming. DC Fandome 2021 kicked off early on Saturday, delivering new trailers for Gotham Knights and the Suicide Squad game. However, on the other side of the non-face-punchy spectrum was fresh news for a famous survival game. Minecraft Live 2021 also showcased on Saturday, demonstrating more than an hour of upcoming content. The show announced the next big update for Minecraft, The Wild, which is bringing frogs, new biomes, and more....

With three major titles in its series, The Witcher games developed by CD Projekt Red have been around since way back in 2007 when the first game released. Street Fighter V shipped without one the franchise’s key components, Arcade Mode. For a game with roots so deep in the arcade scene it was a startling omission. Thankfully Capcom appears to have been listening to fan discontent and is looking into adding an Arcade Mode. “The team is looking into adding an Arcade Mode and we’ll have more information to share soon,” a Capcom rep told Forbes. The same rep also informed Forbes that the existing Story Mode could receive difficulty sliders in future, which again were absent from the shipped game....

What sets The Crew 2 apart from the other open-world racers out there, outside of its neat instant vehicle-swapping mechanic, is the sheer size of its map. The game invites players to explore every nook and cranny of the US, with its promotional material proudly emphasizing that “all of America is yours to explore and ride your way.” But, there’s one little problem with this — it’s a lie. Sure, you can take a road trip in a hypercar from New York to San Francisco, but this technically doesn’t qualify as being the “all of America”....

It seems like so long ago when J-horror swept through the world, embodied by the likes of the zeitgeisty Ring franchise and the grubbier, smaller – and somewhat nastier – Ju-On/The Grudge cycle. Publisher Thunderful Group has announced that upcoming alien exploration adventure The Gunk will launch this December. Some new gameplay footage of the game, first announced last summer, was shown during Xbox’s Gamescom presentation last night. Playing as Rani, you’re playing as one half of a space mining duo who stumble across a barren planet covered in the mysterious titular Gunk. It seems this Gunk is corrupting the planet, and you’ll be battling it as you uncover the secrets beneath....

I’m actually a little stunned over the amount of video game-related content Paramount is churning out for viewers to enjoy. The first is a Sonic the Hedgehog film adaptation, with the sequel on the way, and the second is a new live-action Halo TV series. Okay, maybe two video game adaptations aren’t too crazy, but I still think it’s funny that Paramount has carved a niche for itself as a live-action adaptation curator....

Valve and Netflix have just released the promised main trailer for Dota: Dragon’s Blood. And it does not disappoint. You still need to wait until March 25 for the first episode to air on Netflix though. Based on the fact that there will be a premiere, I believe the series will air one episode at a time – instead of the classic Netflix episode dump. The Atari VCS, a crowd-funded retro console in development by Atari, has lost its system architect and its design consultancy, as they claim to have not been paid for over six months, thus jeopardising the future of the project (via The Register). Atari’s newest console is designed for its retro collection and was announced back in July 2017. It was initially titled the ‘Ataribox’, but it wasn’t a formal or comprehensive announcement, as Atari asked for interested consumers to supply their email addresses for sequential updates on the potential project....
