It’s Friday! Or is it? Time is a social construct, so I could tell you it’s Wednesday today, and how could you prove me wrong? It’s Friday because it’s the fifth day this week, but when did this week start? Can’t prove that either, I’m afraid. Well, the calendar in the bottom right corner of the monitor says it’s Friday. Who told the computer that it’s Friday? Anyone could change that display in the settings....

Everyone experiences fan conventions differently, but author and movie reviewer Marshall Julius is anything but your typical attendee at New York Comic Con 2019. Armed with his soon-to-be-published quiz book, Vintage Geek, and bags full of collapsible “Pulp Heroes” from Far Out Toys to hand out to appreciative con attendees, Julius made his NYCC experience all about meeting people, sharing his love of geek culture, and adding to his Darth Vader collection....

The Elder Scrolls: Blades Project lead Craig Lafferty and art director Matt Carofano took to the stage at Bethesda’s fifth annual E3 2019 media briefing to chat about The Elder Scrolls: Blades. It was announced that some new jobs, solo battles and a brand new dragon questline have come to Blades, and players can play them tonight. Also, it’s coming to Switch, this Autumn, 2019, and it’s still going to be free-to-play....

It’s been revealed that Parks and Rec actor Nick Offerman has been added to the cast of the upcoming The Last of Us TV series at HBO. The news was broken by Variety, and later confirmed by Naughty Dog themselves. Offerman will be playing the role of ‘Bill’ – a fellow survivor Joel and Ellie encounter in the first game. The character will appear, according to the report, alongside his partner Frank who’ll be played by Murray Bartlett....

The NieR: Automata secret church that had players puzzled back in July is now available as a mod. Fans originally thought the new area was a long-hidden secret, but now it’s accessible by downloading The NieR Automata Church mod on NexusMods. “Hello, i’m new to reddit and want to know how to open the church in Nier’Automata,” reads the description, in a cheeky nod to the mod’s humble beginnings as a confusing reddit post....

The Sims has always engaged in unrealistic fantasies like “home ownership” and “having friends.” The new The Sims 4 Discover University DLC will add “STEM is actually cool” to the mix. The announcement of the DLC was leaked a few weeks ago. But we now have a full announcement for The Sims 4 Discover University, accompanied by a trailer and what-not. Your Sims will now be able to enroll in a university, attend classes, increase skills, partake in the best of campus social life and not worry about college debt....

2023 sees the release of The Super Mario Bros movie which will see Mario, Luigi, Peach, and their constant enemy Bowser/King Koopa return to cinema screens worldwide for the first time in 30 years. As the last attempt to bring everyone’s favourite gaming plumber and his world to the cinema screen with 1993’s live action, Super Mario Bros, starring Bob Hoskins, John Leguizamo, Samantha Mathis, and Dennis Hopper infamously became a commercial and critical disappointment upon release....

Chester thinks he’s being altruistic by joining the army, but he’s really just perpetuating the same old behaviour....

Thrustmaster has gone full throttle with the release of the new TCA Captain Pack X. This includes the all new Airbus-inspired (and branded) joystick replica, along with a dedicated throttle module. The set seeks to fully replicate the look and feel of the stick and throttle components used in real Airbus A320neo aircraft, further pushing the envelope of realism when used in a flight sim such as Microsoft Flight Simulator....

Subnautica: Below Zero has finally received a release date. After two years in Early Access, the full deep sea exploration game will be available on Steam and Epic Games on May 14. The original Subnautica has you exploring the sea on an alien planet after a spaceship crash. Use wits and crafting skills to outsmart sea creatures and survive day by day. It’s not all about survival, though; Subnautica is also filled with deep sea secrets for you to explore....

This year’s big, Geoff-Keighley-hosted Summer Game Fest livestream is a little over a week away, and, as the build-up to its 9th June airing continues, all developers and publishers taking part in the show have been revealed. Organisers are calling Summer Game Fest a “spectacular live, 2 hour world premiere showcase” that’s promising “premieres, gameplay demos and news on some of the most highly anticipated games from more than 30 developers and publishers”....

Legendary Nintendo producer Takehiro Izushi has announced his retirement from the video games behemoth after 43 years. Izushi-san, 65, joined the Mario maker in 1975 as an engineer before progressing into game development, where he spearheaded a number of Nintendo’s biggest properties. His first project was Beam Gun Custom before programming a variety of Color TV Game projects throughout the late 70s, after which he soon jumped ship to Donkey Kong for Game & Watch, as well as cutting his teeth on both Game & Watch Gallery titles....

Michigan-based Renegades has just announced the new roster of their Call of Duty team. They did well in 2019, but the departure of two players has opened the door for some fresh talent to join the team. Renegades won both the London and Anaheim CWL open events with a fantastic record of 12-2 in the grand finals. After the Miami amateur finals, team members Shockz and Louga both left the team to join the Paris Legion franchise....

Bad news for fans of virtually racing absurdly expensive autos around the sun soaked streets of exotic tropical isles: Test Drive Unlimited 2 has pushed back from Fall, 2010 to the first quarter of 2011.
