New strategy RPG The DioField Chronicles will be released in September, following a demo in August. The world of The Elder Scrolls Online keeps getting larger and larger. The game was initially released over eight years ago back in 2014 and had already received five expansions, each offering a new location filled with quests. The newest of these, TESO: High Isle, released yesterday and I’ve been questing and exploring to get a feel for this latest expansion. This is another high-quality release that adds a lot of hours of additional content to the already massive game, with an interesting main storyline to boot....

Sega has announced a delay for the Nintendo Switch version of Valkyria Chronicles 4, with the game now due to hit Japan this fall. To make up for this setback, the software giant has confirmed it’s also pumping out the original Valkyria Chronicles for the hybrid platform this year. The tactical role-playing game was originally released back in 2008 for the PlayStation 3, and while it didn’t exactly set tills alight in the same way as, say, Uncharted, it proved big enough to warrant numerous follow-ups and earned a cult following in the process....

Wales Interactive has announced The Isle Tide Hotel, a new live-action interactive mystery releasing on PC, console, and mobile next year. Coming to PC, PS4, PS5, Series X/S, Xbox One, Switch, and mobile in spring (Q2) 2023, The Isle Tide Hotel is a FMV mystery about an absent father looking to rescue his teenage daughter from an “eclectic cult”. Today Clouded Leopard Entertainment released another English trailer of The Legend of Heroes: Kuro no Kiseki II- Crimson Sin, but if you think that means it’s coming in English, unfortunately, that’s not the case. Clouded Leopard Entertainment has the license to localize the latest games of the beloved Trails series for the Asian market in Traditional Chinese and Korean, but not in English. The publisher is going to release the game for PS5 and PS4 in 2022, but western fans are still going to be left high and dry, unless they happen to understand Chinese or Korean....

The Pokémon Company is taking legal action against a popular Chinese mobile game, Pocket Monster Issue, which it claims is a Pokémon clone. (No, not like Ditto. Or those Pokémon that Mewtwo made in the movie.) Pocket Monster Issue is a popular smartphone game in the country, and has been running for more than five years. According to the South China Morning Post (thanks, GamesIndustry.biz), The Pokémon Company is seeking damages worth 500 million yuan (around £62m), and a series of public apologies posted on major gaming websites....

Adventure puzzler The Sexy Brutale will see a launch on the Nintendo Switch on December 7 according to a tweet from the game’s official Twitter account. The game sees you take on the role of Lafcadio Boone who explores a huge mansion and tries to solve a series of murders while trapped in a Groundhog Day style time loop. Originally out on PC, PS4 and Xbox One back in April, it’s been compared very favourably to classic Capcom adventure Ghost Trick, and our Alice quite liked it as well, giving it a 8 in her review....

Off the top of my head, the only sci-fi premises that aren’t automatically horrifying are the ‘90s show seaQuest, or my three-year-old daughter’s favorite TV Show, Octonauts. Everything else that happens underwater has the potential to be packed with the stuff of nightmares. James Cameron’s The Abyss isn’t called The Lovely Abyss....

Insomniac Games has announced that Sunset Overdrive is now available on PC, a move that will surprise absolutely no one after all the leaks we’ve seen. Sunset Overdrive is out for Windows PC today, so you won’t have to wait around to get your hands on the former Xbox One-exclusive title. Still, it’s taken its sweet time; the game was originally released in 2014, and Insomniac expressed interest in bringing it to PC over two years ago....

A sealed copy of the original 1985 Super Mario Bros. for NES has been sold for an earth-shattering $100,150, around £78,000. Blimey! It’s a record-breaking sum, and the most anyone has forked out for a single video game that has had its condition professionally certified. Sealed copies of Super Mario Bros. are intrinsically worth a pretty penny, obviously, but this one more so as it’s one of the earliest US copies available, used by Ninty to test the waters in New York and LA prior to the NES’ wider release....
