This review contains spoilers. “What are you two doing together?” “It’s a long story…” Alison Bailey does not appear in this episode of The Affair, but her presence is very much felt through this instalment. In fact, everyone’s actions revolve around Alison and it’s fascinating to see what different emotions she brings out of all of these people. The disappearance of Alison has been repeatedly teased throughout this season as the year’s ‘big mystery’, but this is the episode that really gets into it....

After the announcement that Netflix will be doing a full-length anime movie based on The Witcher universe and storyline, not much else was known. However, now the streaming service has low-key added a description to the movie which explains it will center around Geralt’s mentor Vesemir and his own journey as a witcher. Vesemir, who has yet to appear in the show, is the oldest remaining witcher at Kaer Morhen and mentor to all the younger witchers....

This year’s Call of Duty launched without an automatic shotgun. But as part of the Black Ops Cold War Season One update, Treyarch added the Streetsweeper. Based on the real-life Armsel Striker, the Streetsweeper is a 12 gauge shotgun most notable for its revolver-like reload mechanism. Cold War is only the third Call of Duty this shotgun has ever featured in, with its last appearance in Modern Warfare 3. Auto shotguns haven’t had the best of luck in recent years with them generally being outperformed by pump-action and semi-auto competitors....

The Blizzcon 2019 schedule has six ‘coming soon’ slots set for its main Mythic Stage, spurring speculation that Blizzard will drop some major announcements next week (via VGC). The Mythic Stage is used for cosplay competitions, announcements for World of Warcraft and Overwatch, and panels with developers and pro players. These six ‘coming soon’ slots — four to be held on November 1 and two planned for November 2 — are no indication of a totally new game or a totally new sequel coming to one of Blizzard’s major properties....

You’ve already waited 7 years for it, so what’s another few days? According to a pair of new trailers released by PlayStation Europe, The Last Guardian doesn’t actually launch in Europe until October 26, and in the UK until Friday, October 28 – three days after its North American debut. That’s not too bad given the wait European players had for Team Ico’s last title Shadow of the Colossus (which arrived in North America in October 2005 and February 2006), but still, it’s a minor inconvenience for those hoping to jump in simultaneously with the rest of the world....

We finally have an idea when Yooka-Laylee and the Impossible Lair will be released. According to a video released on Twitter by Playtonic Games, the newest entry into the Yooka-Laylee Franchise will be released in the month of October. This date will have the game competing against Luigi’s Manson 3, the Switch release of A Hat in Time, and a re-mastering of the long-dormant MediEvil franchise. The video demonstrated a change that Playtonic has made to the series’ babbling voiceovers, which had previously involved the characters speaking incoherent grunts and chatter for the entire time each character’s dialogue filled up the text bubble....

THQ Nordic has announced that The Raven Remastered, a spruced up version of the classic mystery title The Raven: Legacy of a Master Thief by KING Art, will be hitting PS4, PC, and Xbox One on March 13. The Raven Remastered will sport a variety of enhancements for modern consoles, including revamped animations, new lighting and hair effects, plus a sumptuous high-definition makeover. Set in London in 1964, the game’s story revolves around the theft of an ancient ruby from the British Museum, with only a raven’s feather left at the scene....

While we’re debating if Warner Bros’ Multiversus game is even real, apparently its potential roster was leaked into the wild today. Two days ago, rumors began describing a new Smash Bros-style game featuring the likes of Shaggy and Gandalf. If today’s leak is real, then they’ll be joined by quite the eclectic cast. Imagine a game where Rick Sanchez squares up against Steven Universe or Bugs Bunny — that may just happen soon....

This The Simpsons review contains spoilers. The Simpsons: Season 30 Episode 7 Marge finds herself adding to the family pot as a working mom and works it like a mother. She becomes an independent operator, selling Tubberware, the vacuum packed plastic which I imagine lets out a belching seal sound when encasing all the nutritional goodness inside a bell-shaped container. At first Marge is less than a perfect fit. Her usual ubermom exuberance gets doors politely slammed in her face, and her shoes don’t have the chutzpah it takes to be a door-stop....

Robot-biffing action RPG The Surge has today taken the covers off its upcoming DLC A Walk in the Park, marking the first major paid-for content expansion outside of weapon packs for the game since its launch back in May. The setting for the expansion pack is an old abandoned theme park named CREO World where ‘roaming rescue teams have gone insane and robotic mascots patrol freely, patiently waiting for new visitors to offer a deadly welcome’ – which makes it sound like Disneyland meets Five Nights at Freddy’s....

The FIFA 17 demo releases tomorrow – September 13 – on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, and gives fans the chance to sample the new Frostbite-powered gameplay and the new Journey mode. The Journey presents players with a fictional story about the rise of the Premier League’s up and coming star Alex Hunter. In the demo a select experience will be available at Manchester United. Outside of The Journey you’ll be able to take part in the regular Kick-Off mode with a choice of 12 clubs:...

Gerard Way and Gabriel Ba’s The Umbrella Academy, which opens with the spontaneous birth of 43 superpowered babies right at the moment a wrestler elbow drops a giant space squid in the ring, might be unadaptable. Despite its best efforts to capture the delightful weirdness of the comic as well as expand on some of the storylines only hinted at in the book, the new Netflix series is ultimately too grounded and sluggish to really keep us invested....

WB Games’ bizarre platform fighter MultiVersus will have a Closed Alpha starting on May 19. You can sign up for it today, and apparently all you’ll need is a WB Games account to do so. Insomniac’s fun open-world title Sunset Overdrive will be free via Xbox One’s Games with Gold from April 16 to May 15, Xbox has announced. Telltale’s The Wolf Among Us on Xbox One will also be free throughout April. Joining the Xbox One pair are Xbox 360 hits Dead Space from April 1 to April 15 and Saints Row IV from April 16 to April 30. Both games are fully backwards compatible on Xbox One....

So, here we are. After a period of hype, speculation, and much discussion of an awkward hand gesture from Sakurai, the final addition to Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s first DLC roster has been revealed. It’s none other than Byleth, of Fire Emblem: Three Houses fame. Naturally, fans have had all kinds of thoughts about this decision. Sublime as Three Houses may be, was Byleth really the right pick to close out the first Fighters Pass?...

When a show has run for over a decade and included hundreds of characters, it is easy to see how it could lose focus on a number of plot threads. It isn’t possible to keep track of all the storylines that have been in place. Once one arc is completed, or swerved into another, it can be left ignored for years to come or never resolved at all. Stories that were relevant in say Season 5 or Season 6 would most likely not be a talking point in Season 12 or 13....

The Nintendo Switch may have proved a massive success right out the gate, but it wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for the lessons learned through the relative failure of the Wii U, Nintendo of America boss Reggie Fils-Aime has said.
