While most gamers are looking to this coming Friday as the day Call of Duty: Modern Warfare arrives, there will no doubt be plenty who will be wanting a shooter experience that’s more thoughtful, more story-driven, and more in the way of gameplay depths instead. Good news for those gamers then: Obsidian Entertainment will be delivering all that and more this week with the debut of its latest shooter-RPG, The Outer Worlds....
The Quiet Man is going to add a post-launch patch that doesn’t make it quiet. How outstanding is that? That’s rhetorical. It’s very outstanding. The game’s lead character is deaf and silent, so an awful lot of the game lacks any sound, as the name of Human Head’s upcoming game suggests. There are apparently some sound effects during battles, but apart from that, it’s pretty hushed. During a livestream (via Gematsu), however, publisher Square Enix announced that a free update, scheduled for a week after release, will add sound to the game for your second playthrough....

It’s hard not to notice that Realm of Magic seems to have a lot of similarities to Makin’ Magic, an expansion pack for the original game. For example, each one introduces a special neighborhood or world for magical sims to acquire magical items, Magic Town in TS1 and The Magic Realm in TS4. There are probably several other similarities as well, but there are actually quite a few more differences....

The Behind the Sims Summit has finally revealed the latest details about The Sims 5, codenamed “Project Rene,” which will introduce the next generation of the game. Maxis Studios has also announced the launch of two Expansion Packs and Overwolf, a safe mod program for all Simmers. Street Fighter’s iconic warrior Ryu has joined Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS. Fire Emblem’s Roy has also been added to the mix alongside Mother 3’s Lucas as the three latest fighters to join the roster. Ryu’s battle stage from Street Fighter 2, Suzaku Castle, has also been added, as well the return of Dreamland stage from the original Nintendo 64 entry of Smash Bros. Strike Back returns to Cinemax for its seventh season, with Strike Back: Revolution featuring the continuing misadventures of Section 20. Having gone through hell in the previous season, Revolution opens with suspended teammates Gracie (Alin Sumarwata), Mac (Warren Brown) and Wyatt (Daniel MacPherson) brought back into the action when a Russian nuclear device goes missing. Needless to say, there will be no shortage of shootouts, fistfights and probably some gratuitous nudity too....
Sucker Punch’s stunning-looking Ghost of Tsushima will up the authenticity by offering an option for Japanese audio, the studio has revealed. While the gameplay demo at Sony’s ‘deep dive’ E3 presser featured English dialogue, Sucker Punch confirmed to press at the show that it’s also working on the option for Japanese voiceovers with English subtitles. A demo shown to press at E3 actually did include some Japanese dialogue, although the studio is still working on implementing the feature (via PST)....
The Super Mario Mash-Up Pack will be released as a free download for Minecraft: Wii U Edition on May 18, Nintendo, Mojang and Microsoft have announced. The free update includes new skins, a Super Mario-themed pre-made world, a set of 15 Super Mario-themed music and item textures. The 40 new Super Mario-themed skins include the likes of Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, Bowser, Wario and all seven of Bowser’s minions. Source: Nintendo

The excellent SUPERHOT is about to get an expansion called SUPERHOT: MIND CONTROL DELETE. This is a standalone expansion which expands on the original concept by bringing more new challenges and gameplay mechanics to the time freezing title. The new content will include new challenges that make players stronger as new powerful abilities are unlocked. This time there will also be new playable characters. The Early Access release will start with two playable MINDS with their own abilities, a selection of new levels, new AI and animation, new enemies, and hitpoint system and power-up store....

For the second consecutive year, Team Canada took home the top prize at the Canada Nationals for Rainbow Six Siege. The competition at the 2019 Enthusiast Gaming Live Expo (EGLX) was fierce, and in the end Team Canada dominated their opponent, Team Yes, from beginning to end, finishing with an impressive 3-0 in the best-of-five set. Team Yes consisted of players Cinnamon, Snug, Jolly, Rowdyowly, and Misio, while Team Canada consisted of players Wiskerzz, Evlwaffle, Bryan, Jarvis, and Euphoria....
Cooperative brawler Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge has sold more than one million copies in its first week of release, publisher Dotemu and developer Tribute Games announced today. The game launched last month and is available on PC, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Game Pass.
