FarmVille, the unbelievable well-sustained crop growing simulation run by Zynga on Facebook has finally been beaten by another, more popular app. Unsurprisingly, it’s yet another venture into land management by Zynga. As of today, CityVille, the new city management game by Zynga that launched last month, has over 90 million active users per month, far surpassing FarmVille’s current numbers by over 30 million. CityVille officially broke FarmVille’s previous reign this weekend when the registered users for the past month passed the benchmark of 83....

Going by my success in games, I’m good at everything. I’m not sure this is a good thing when it comes to the recent Drug Dealer Simulator, but I have definitely been groomed for a virtual life of crime. Hitman? Monaco? Dungeon Keeper? Sega has announced that it’ll be releasing an all-new mini console in the form of the Sega Mega Drive Mini 2 this October. Now, here’s an interesting little curio. Back in the late eighties, Nintendo, being the family friendly funsters they are, released a short educational clip they called Super Mario’s Fire Brigade. It was distributed to schools across Japan via VHS, and aimed to introduce young children to the dangers of fire, fire safety and what to do in the event of fire. As obscure as this piece is, a lot of more ardent Mario fans will already be familiar with it....

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate’s Fifth DLC fighter is coming soon, and speculation is running rife on fan forums as players take guesses at who it’ll be. Randy Pitchford gave a surprise (and early) announcement at the Gearbox Software PAX panel that a new Tales From the Borderlands is being worked on and will be out later this year. The first game was released in Nov. 2014 and was developed by Telltale Games. This time, however, the game has been developed entirely in-house by Gearbox Software. This new Tales From the Borderlands installment will have “all new characters and stories set in the Borderlands universe....

Team Ninja president Fumihiko Yasuda spoke at a panel at the G-Star Conference 2022, the B2B part of the Korean gaming event G-Star in Busan. As reported by the local website Ruliweb, Yasuda-san talked about the company’s business, policies, and philosophy. Interestingly, he also provided a quick look at Team Ninja’s future plans. Speculation about a new Sims game is heating up after the FY2020 earnings call for EA when CEO Andrew Wilson was asked if the company had any thoughts on reviving The Sims Online, or something similar. His reply was far less evasive than usual and implied that features from the past online game will be coming back in the future.
