EA is putting the brakes on the next Need for Speed game by postponing it for a year, and instead moving developer Criterion Games onto a support role on Battlefield 6 with DICE. The news comes from EA Chief Studios Officer Lauara Miele who was speaking to Polygon and mentioned that the move actually gives the Criterion team time to breathe, which has been made possible thanks to EA’s recent acqusition of Codemasters who will themselves be putting out at least one racing game this year, widely believed to be this year’s licensed Formula One game....

When the makers of Star Wars: Knights Of The Old Republic II and Fallout: New Vegas come out with a fresh RPG title, you can bet your bottom dollar that we’ll want to check out. So, when we heard that Obsidian was previewing The Outer Worlds at a trendy London location, the invite was impossible to refuse. The demo ended up taking place on the hottest UK day in recent memory, but thankfully the venue had some powerful air conditioning to keep us feeling cool....

The Outer Worlds was released in October, and since then it’s been seeing critical success, even being nominated at The Game Awards last night. Jerry’s internal psychodramas are played out through his pets, with his cat, Mr Whiskers, serving as the predatory part of his nature and his dog Bosco being his moist-eyed conscience....

Nintendo has released a new trailer for the next upcoming Mario adventure Super Mario 3D World + Bowser’s Fury ahead of the game’s release on Nintendo Switch next month. Originally revealed back in September as part of the Super Mario 35th Anniversary celebrations, the game is an enhanced version of the original Super Mario 3D World released on the Wii U back in 2013, but includes plenty of Switch enhancements including Gyro controls, increased running speed for all characters and the ability to climb higher when using the Super Bell....

Dishonored: Definitive Edition is out this week, and a video has been posted online comparing the graphics of the new-gen version to the original release. The video compares the opening few minutes of the game on the PS4 and Xbox 360 platforms. Dishonored’s art style means that it has held up well since its 2012 release, and so this video should go some way to helping players decide whether to double-dip with the latest re-release....

LucasArts and TellTale Games have released a batch of new screens from the next episode in the Tales of Monkey Island series. The first episode in the series, Lunch of the Screaming Narwhal saw Guybrush back on Flotsam Island after accidentally turning the evil pirate LeChuck into a human while cursing his own hand in the process. He then found a new ship and vowed to rescue his wife Elaine from LeChuck, only for events to take a surprising turn....

The coronavirus outbreak is affecting video game production because a lot of stuff is made in China. There’s a new virus floating around. It’s called the 2019-nCoV coronavirus, although it’s more commonly known as the Wuhan coronavirus since it originally came from Wuhan, China. The virus is like a cold, only a lot worse. Fever and coughs can eventually lead to pneumonia, respiratory distress, and in some cases, death. So far, China has reported over 31,000 confirmed infections and 623 deaths due to the outbreak....

Fighting to the death on the backs of giant animals is truly a fantasy staple. It’s usually dragons, sure, but, in The Falconeer, it’s falcons. The game will release in November, and I got to take a look at what it has to offer. That said, I’m currently not sold on the game and I see a fair amount of issues with it so far. I played through the prologue and the first chapter and, while some of the ideas are really neat, the execution isn’t everything I hoped for....
