Halloween is the perfect time for ghost stories, and behind every good ghost story is a tale that weaves fact and fiction, lined with mysteries that remain unsolved and enough scares to make your spine tingle and your skin prickle with goose bumps. Horror movies and games live and die by this ideal — to mesmerize the audience and to keep you at the edge of your seat. That brings us to Man of Medan, the first of Supermassive Games’ Dark Pictures Anthology series, and the ghost ship that inspired its setting: the SS Ourang Medan....

Hit NBC series, The Good Place, is not shy in their disfavorable impression of PewDiePie. A recent episode of the acclaimed show saw characters listing off “random bad people.” Making the cut were Elizabeth Holmes, Henry Kissinger, and, of course, PewDiePie. PewDiePie may not be complicit in war crimes or responsible for fraudulent business practices, but he’s still included in The Good Place’s kitchen sink of detestable characters. The clip from the show was immediately shared on social media by a number of users, the majority of which seem to find humor in—if not support of—the show dragging PewDiePie....

When Avenue Q first opened off-Broadway, many theatergoers raised an arched eyebrow: a musical about puppets interacting with humans? Or more aptly, a musical about humans interacting with puppets having graphic sex while singing about the angst of graduating college with an English degree? How would that work? The answer, obviously, is smashingly well. Q is one of the funniest musicals ever produced, and I only bring up that initial apprehension because Henson Alternative’s The Happytime Murders is the antithesis of such a velvet rollout....

Today Naughty Dog released another video clip comparing the graphics of The Last of Us Part 1 against The Last of Us Remastered. We get to see the Boston Docks on PS5 compared to the old version on PS4, and this is one of the videos that show the visual improvements best. The lighting, the materials, and the models all show massive differences when showcased side-by-side with The Last of Us Remastered....

At the start of March, Den of Geek traveled to Hamburg to visit the offices of Daedalic Entertainment. As well as learning about the German studio’s upcoming RTS game A Year of Rain and a handful of other intriguing titles in their pipeline, we were also lucky enough to witness Daedalic’s very first announcement of The Lord of the Rings: Gollum. The Lord of the Rings: Gollum is an action-adventure video game for PC and consoles that will launch in 2021....

The next Call of Duty game is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War, according to a report from Eurogamer. The leak itself comes from Okami13_, a Call of Duty leaker, and Eurogamer asserts that this title matches the one it has been supplied from its own trusted sources. Of course, the next Call of Duty game isn’t going to use this artwork, but it gets the point across. Moreover, Call of Duty Warzone now has vaults that have telephones inside their bunkers....

This past weekend saw the return of fighting games on LAN, with one of the first offline events of 2021. Red Bull Kumite, in its first appearance in North America, brought the action to Las Vegas, Nevada. Over the course of two days, players from all over the world competed in Guilty Gear Strive, Tekken 7, and Street Fighter V. Right before the finals of Guilty Gear Strive, we got a trailer for the game’s next DLC character, Happy Chaos....

The Outer Worlds is a terrific sci-fi tale that explores what would happen if corporate consumerism took over basic human decency. As a space-themed story-driven RPG, it offers the fun and engaging gameplay experience bigger budget releases like Anthem, Mass Effect: Andromeda and Fallout ‘76 failed to deliver. The game could have easily fallen into the same traps that impacted the success of those other titles. Instead, it stuck with simple mechanics and placed a strong emphasis on storytelling through dialogue....

In such a weird and wacky world, the armor is one section that remains relatively typical in the game. At least on the artistic side of things - otherwise, things start to up the excitement level. Coming with modes and upgrades that will improve the character’s game experience in almost every way possible, a good piece of armor is a necessity in The Outer Worlds. With so many different mixed and matched items, it can be hard to figure out what’s actually making the difference....

Epic Games has announced a new vehicle known as the Quadcrasher is on its way to Fortnite Battle Royale, and it’s about as destructive as its name implies. It looks a bit like a quad bike, albeit one that has been custom made to cause as much damage as possible. The Quadcrasher certainly looks the business, sporting a mean face with big gnashers painted onto its front, which appears to be some kind of snowplow....

Game director of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Konrad Tomaszkiewicz has resigned from CD Projekt SA following an investigation into workplace bullying. As reported by Bloomberg, Tomaszkiewicz was actually found not guilty by a commission that was investigating allegations of bullying at the studio levelled against him, itself following a months long internal investigation. However, Tomaszkiewicz still made the decision to step down from his postition in a letter to staff, saying “Nonetheless, a lot of people are feeling fear, stress or discomfort when working with me” and he also apologised to staff “for all the bad blood I have caused....

The Xbox Game Store has seemingly confirmed that Super Bomberman R, the former Switch-exclusive blast-’em-up from 2017, is making the jump to Xbox One this summer. According to the listing, the version coming to Microsoft’s chunky telly box will support the same features as the Switch edition, so that means the multiplayer-focused Battle Mode (with support for eight local players and 2-4 online participants) and the dedicated story mode, which can also be tackled cooperatively....

This Supergirl review contains spoilers. Supergirl Season 4 Episode 20 James’s sister Kelly has fit into Supergirl seamlessly, bringing out another much-needed side in both James and Alex and knitting the group closer together. Everything about this episode felt like a natural extension of her relationship with Alex thus far, and the actors’ natural chemistry together has kept it from ever feeling rushed, even though realistically, they’ve gone from strangers to helping one another through major life choices in the blink of an eye....

Nintendo may have been working to improve the emulation system that recently launched on Nintendo Switch. Emulation became widely available with the launch of the Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion pack last year, although subscribers to the £35-a-year catalogue reported a number of general issues at the time of launch, including lag and low frame rates. A couple of games also feature more specific problems, including Mario Kart 64, Sin and Punishment, and Mario 64....

Just as the drama surrounding FTC’s lawsuit against Microsoft had started to die down, another twist in this tumultuous tale has seemingly appeared out of nowhere. A group of 10 CoD players from three different states have filed a joint lawsuit in an attempt to block the technology giant from acquiring Activision Blizzard. Based on the official documents filed by those involved with the group, a majority of the complaints mentioned mirror the statements made by the FTC....
