The 1990s were a great time for video games. Several different consoles were really popular during this period, including the SNES, the first PlayStation, and the Sega Dreamcast. A lot of these consoles remain popular for gamers that are into playing retro games and it’s easy to see why. The PlayStation was a console that saw a ton of amazing games in the 90s. A lot of them have been remade or have sequels that have come out, but heading back to the 90s to play the originals is still a ton of fun....

The Pokémon series has a special place in many people’s hearts. It is a timeless classic that, with each iteration, seems to improve and expand in some way – even just the slightest. Of course, there are some of us who remember there being just 151 Pokémon in Red and Blue. Today, there are too many to count. Seriously, our fingers don’t go that high. Total War: Warhammer 3 is the definition of an ambitious video game. Bethesda has revealed the launch trailer for its upcoming survival horror The Evil Within 2, and it’s out on October 13 for PS4, Xbox One and PC. Jeez, that’s Friday the 13th. The trailer is jam-packed with plenty of swear words, foreboding quotes, and some truly petrifying creatures. There’s even an outrageously haunting lady monster who resembles Edvard Munch’s famous painting, The Scream. But I’m not scared, honest. The Evil Within 2 is a direct sequel to the original that came from the twisted imagination of the ex-Resident Evil director Shinji Mikami....

A new game that centres on “love, pop and the ’90s” is set to release this autumn. Riley and Rochelle from Sheinman Games will take players on a deductive journey, following the lives of two singers from two different backgrounds who fall in love… and also fall apart. Players will create their own documentary about the two stars as they “take a nuanced yet insider look at the pop culture world” of the ’90s....

PlayStation Productions has found its writer for the upcoming Ghost of Tsushima movie project currently in the works. Deadline, who broke word of the film’s initial announcement in March of last year, is who’s broken the news again. They name Takashi Doscher as the man who’ll be putting pen to paper on the movie adaptation of Jin Sakai’s samurai story. Doscher’s previous works include sci-fi romance Only starring Freida Pinto and the currently-in development-with-MGM Blue....

The Last Guardian is being adapted for the silver screen, claims a recent report, and it’s got screenwriter Max Borenstein on board with the project (via PlayStation LifeStyle). Borenstein is best known for writing Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and the upcoming Godzilla vs. Kong. Sony is producing (expectedly), and the movie is currently casting for four characters. “Boy” is a 12 year old… boy who is the central character of the game, and the team are also looking for someone to take on the role of “Tree,” the curious winged creature named Trico in the game....

With over three decades worth of games and nineteen mainline entries, The Legend of Zelda is not hurting for variety. This is a franchise where “playing it safe” can be considered boring and derivative by fans. The Legend of Zelda has a foundation it follows, but it almost always tries to experiment. In the early days, this mainly meant experimenting with the different items Link would acquire on his adventures....

If this seems like odd timing, Deadline confirms that the reason for the extended break is for work to begin on planning out a second season. It also gives the producers and executives a chance to “step back and evaluate the footage much like they would do with a pilot” and perhaps there will then be an opportunity to film season 1 and 2 back-to-back, if things are running smoothly and everyone’s happy with the direction of the series....

It’s one of the most infamous Digital Foundry stories of all-time. The original version of Ark: Survival Evolved arrived with a mixture of shock, horror, befuddlement and amusement owing to its incredibly bad visuals, ultra-low resolution, lack of detail, LOD popping issues, slow loading and the fact that often, textures did not seem to load at all. However, a couple of months ago, we were approached by representatives of the studio, saying that an all-new Switch version was coming - and they were eager for Digital Foundry to check it out....

Daniel Myrick, the co-director and writer of the 1999 indie classic, The Blair Witch Project, has a new fictional documentary dealing with a subject he says he has a passion for, alien abduction. It’s called Skyman and it’s available on VOD and playing in drive-in theaters now. “I’ve always been fascinated with the subject matter,” Myrick tells Den of Geek. “When I was growing up in the late seventies and early eighties, everything from UFOs to Bigfoot, Loch Ness Monster, Bermuda Triangle, and the zeitgeists in those days, and sort of inspired me as a preteen to kind of start my own UFO club in my neighborhood....

Resident Evil fans have been eating well over the last few years thanks to a consistent stream of new releases in the franchise. Developer Capcom is seemingly always hard at work on whatever is next for Resident Evil, and now fans are about to get a new look at what the studio has in store for the two most recent entries. Capcom has announced that the Resident Evil Showcase will take place on October 20 at 6 PM ET, and it will feature new looks at Resident Evil Village: Gold Edition and the remake of Resident Evil 4....

The PC version of The Walking Dead: The Final Season is coming to the Epic Games Store, developer Skybound Games has announced. All future purchases of the zombie drama series will be exclusive to Epic’s newly-launched outlet. However, those of you who have bought the game on another store already can still grab the remaining two episodes from whatever place you plumped for originally. The Walking Dead: The Final Season’s next chapter will launch on January 13, 2019....

We’ve had to make do without a new game in The Elder Scrolls series for quite some time. Although it’s a little hard to believe, Skyrim was released nearly a decade ago. While news on the next game in that franchise has been few and far between, another game has popped up that’s similarly exciting. Back in 2019, OnceLost Games, a studio made up of former lead developers from The Elder Scrolls II: Daggerfall and other games, announced its intention to make a spiritual successor to that game....

The Witcher franchise has quickly become one of the most widespread and renowned fantasy series out there, without a shadow of a doubt. The series was already picking up with the release of the trilogy of games that have gone down as some of the greatest fantasy games out there. Now, with the Netflix series playing a key role in rekindling the flames of the franchise, it’s easy to surmise that the series is reaching new heights, unlike anything it has ever witnessed before....

Earlier this summer, Sega announced what was believed to be a new Super Monkey Ball game after years of inactivity in the once popular franchise. Or so everyone thought, but once the trailer was shown it was revealed to be Super Monkey Ball: Banana Blitz HD, a remake of an older game in the series. Today, Sega released a new trailer for the game showing off its newest bonus character....

Talk of next generation hardware is about ready to pick back up again in the CPU and memory space. Intel may be launching its Rocket Lake CPUs next week, but the real promise of power lies in its 12th generation 10nm Alder Lake CPUs due out later this year. DDR5 memory support will play a part in moving performance forward when that time comes, and T-Force plans to be ready with overclockable memory from the start....
