The Blackout Club is set to move out of early access soon and launch officially on Steam. I had the pleasure of previewing the game late last year, and certainly liked what I experienced. The game offers an interesting take on stealth survival, adding four-player co-op and an invisible enemy you can only see when you close your eyes. The Borderlands movie has unveiled its latest casting and now given an official plot synopsis for the Eli Roth-directed film, and perhaps unsurprisingly it’s going to deviate from the games somewhat, with no Handsome Jack in sight. Ubisoft has announced The Crew Motorfest, a “new era” for its open-world racing series that’ll whisk players off to Hawaii when it launches for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC later this year. Specifics on the new live-service game are fairly limited right now, but The Crew Motorfest, as its name very much suggests, is themed around a “one-of-a-kind” motoring festival (presumably even more one-of-a-kind if you pretend Forza Horizon doesn’t exist) featuring “tailor-made races, themed events, and other unique challenges”....
Developer Fntastic has rebuffed suggestions from increasingly vocal detractors that The Day Before - its now twice-delayed and seldom seen open-world zombie survival MMO - is a scam, saying, “When the game comes out, people will finally see the truth.” The Day Before was revealed back in 2021, with a striking trailer that helped propel it to the top of Steam’s most wishlisted games chart. This one’s strong, if uneven. The Living Daylights has a lot going for it, not least of which includes a lean, sharkish Timothy Dalton, who’s all tight of smile and cold of eye. Other strengths include a plot that actually goes places (even if they aren’t always the right ones), a great soundtrack, a palpably menacing hitman, and the enjoyably retro prominence of the Cold War. From today until June 22, this event will task players with aiding a reporter for the Harbor Herald, Remumu. Remumu needs an adventurer to protect her during her investigation. Participating in the Maiden’s Rhapsody event will gain players access to the Amatsu armor set....
The Matrix 4 is officially in the works at Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow Pictures, with co-creator Lana Wachowski set to write, direct, and produce. In addition to Wachowski, novelists Aleksander Hemon and David Mitchell will be writing the screenplay, making the initial behind-the-scenes team for this sequel pretty damn impressive. Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss will also reprise their roles as Neo and Trinity, respectively… um, somehow, with production slated to begin as early as “at the top of 2020,” according to Variety....

Deck 13 are now working The Surge 2 and it’s been given a rough completion date of 2019. The game will include many of the features from the first game such as the limb targetting but promises to expand on the mechanics in the sequel. The game will have a new setting which is described a “sprawling devastated city” with “more ambitious level design”. The information today doesn’t tell us too much except that it will have more of everything that appeared in the first game....

The Walking Dead Season 10 Episode 1 During the brief window of time between The Walking Dead season 9 and season 10, I worked on an article highlighting the best in television and streaming horror series. One of the shows highlighted was a solid zombie drama called Black Summer, about the world slowly crumbling under the weight of a growing zombie menace. It’s nothing groundbreaking, but it’s a taut thriller with some new wrinkles on a pretty standard idea, thanks in no small part to being a little more formally daring than the average zombie series (meaning, how The Walking Dead traditionally looks and feels)....

EA will shock no one by releasing more Star Wars: Battlefront titles and other games which utilise its 10 year Star Wars license with Disney, EA CFO Blake Jorgensen has revealed. “We struck a licensing deal with Disney a few years back that’s almost ten years in length. The game that comes out tomorrow, Star Wars Battlefront, is a traditional first-person style shooter game.
