Nintendo UK has revealed on Twitter that Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is now the fastest-selling home console game from the platform holder in Europe of all time. It’s probably not a surprise. The latest Smash Bros. game has been selling like hot cakes around the world, moving three million copies in 11 days in the US and also performing well in its native Japan. Rich thought Super Smash Bros. Ultimate was an absolute corker, so you should probably snap it up, sharpish....

Nintendo has confirmed via Twitter that it’ll reveal the next downloadable fighter heading to Switch brawler Super Smash Bros Ultimate during this evening’s The Game Awards event. The new addition will be the third figher (or fighters) in Fighters Pass Volume 2, joining Arms’ Min Min who joined the roster during the summer, and the Minecraft pack that included Steve, Alex a Zombie AND an Enderman all as playable fighters back in October....

After what feels like an eternity, the well-known Japanese figure exhibition Wonder Festival was back in presence today at the Makuhari Messe in Chiba, near Tokyo with the 2022 Winter edition. While it was smaller than pre-covid exhibitions for obvious reasons and some big players weren’t there, there were still plenty of new figures portraying video game characters revealed for the fans. In a very short period, PlatinumGames has made a pretty significant mark in gaming. In an industry where experimentation is largely frowned upon in favor of making maximum profit, Platinum continues to go against the grain to bring players something different from what’s standard in the mainstream. Let’s take a trip through their catalog and see which of the developer’s games are the 10 most highly rated on Metacritic. Only the vanilla installments of each game will be accounted for and, if the title was multi-platform, the platform that received the best overall score....

The 2010s saw the end of the Xbox 360 life cycle and nearly the entire lifespan of the Xbox One. With huge investments in gaming by Microsoft, there were dozens of quality first games to come to Xbox. From Halo to Gears to Forza, Xbox fans are walking away from this decade happy. Fans of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds and Dead Space have likely heard of The Callisto Protocol, the survival horror game announced during The Game Awards 2020. Taking place in the same universe as PUBG, The Callisto Protocol promises to offer a fresh new take on the IP. And since Glen Schofield, the creator of Dead Space, has assumed the role of director for this project, it could serve as an unlikely, yet welcome, palate cleanser for Dead Space fans, at least until the remake comes out....

Dead By Daylight is home to many killers, and the community has strong feelings about most of them. Last November, developers on the official forums shared stats from all the killers detailing which are most deadly, which are picked the most, and naturally which are least deadly and least picked. For the most part, these stats were not very surprising but did come with one particularly interesting upset. The deadliest killer in the three months leading up to the reveal of the stats was none other than Freddy Krueger, who for a time was notorious for being one of the worst killers in Dead by Daylight....

The Elder Scrolls Online’s second expansion pack ‘Orsinium’ will release on all formats next month, Bethesda has announced. The DLC will be available first on PC and Mac on November 2, before heading to Xbox One on November 17. It’ll then land on PS4 one day later on November 18. If you’re on The Elder Scrolls Online’s Public Test Server you’ll be able to access it today. Described by Bethesda as “the largest ESOTU DLC game pack to date”, Orsinium takes players to the mountains of Wrothgar and the ancestral home of the Orcs “to unravel plots and counter-plots, and encounter all-new enemies and allies”....

Team17’s pixel art-coated sequel The Escapists 2 has received a dazzling launch trailer marking the release of the game for Switch today. The game is available to snap up right now on the Nintendo Store for £19.99. The Escapists 2 does exactly what it says on the tin, and can be played solo or with some mates in tow thanks to the all-new drop-in/drop-out cooperative spilt-screen mode. You can also plump for online multiplayer co-op or versus if you prefer, and tinker with a bevy of customisation options....

The Last of Us Part 2‘s story has been leaked. Various clips that showcase nearly the entirety of the game’s story have made their way online. Naughty Dog has recently confirmed the leak via a tweet that asks fans to not spoil the game for others and to avoid spoilers if possible. The extent of this leak is massive. Not only do these leaked clips include nearly every major cutscene from The Last of Us Part 2, but it seems that fans have also gotten their hands on a leaked level list that details the story structure of the sequel....

The Last of Us writer and creative director Neil Druckmann jokes about backing out of the new HBO series after seeing a controversial post on Twitter. Yesterday, HBO announced that it is making a TV series about The Last of Us with Sony and Naughty Dog but didn’t say when the first episode would be available. On Twitter, Craig Mazin, the creator of the series Chernobyl and a writer and producer of The Last of Us series on HBO, revealed his top 20 favorite video games....

The PlayStation 4 remake of MediEvil has gone gold ahead of its release next month, as confirmed by developer Other Ocean on Twitter. The game is more like an ‘archaeological project’ in which the team are ‘walking in the shoes of the original creators’, than a totally unique version of MediEvil. And now that work is complete, Other Ocean will be sending it off to be turned into a physical edition, so that fans are one step closer to resurrecting their long-buried memories of the classic game....

The next Super Smash Bros. Ultimate event is going back to the days of the Super Nintendo, Sega Genesis, Nintendo 64, and PlayStation, as all of the characters and stages in will be from the ’90s. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has been running themed events in the tournament mode for a while now, which restrict the number of playable characters and stages or use specific items and rulesets. Recent events include only using characters from Super Smash Bros....

Hades‘ tenth major feature patch, The Nighty Night Update, is now live, and it introduces a bunch of new content to Supergiant Games’ early access rogue-like. The biggest feature coming with this update is the Twin Fists of Malphon, which kind of speaks for itself. It’s fists. With which you punch things. But that’s not all, because the Nighty Night Update also improves existing gameplay elements and the expansion of the story....

White Paper Games has announced that it has pushed back the release of The Occupation to February 5, 2019. The upcoming thriller was originally scheduled to arrive on October 9, so it would have been with us next week. However, writing in a statement on its blog today, the developer confirmed that The Occupation needs a little more time in the oven before it’s ready to ship. ‘We know that right now the game is so close to being complete and ready to play, but we also know that there are some tweaks and improvements that we need to make in order for it to be something that we’re proud to release and an experience that we’re happy to hand over to you all,’ reads the statement....

In 1970, legendary filmmaker Orson Welles began filming what would end up being his final cinematic project: The Other Side of the Wind, a semi-mockumentary look at an aging Hollywood director named Jake Hannaford (played by fellow legendary director and actor John Huston) whose 70th birthday celebration becomes both a showcase for his experimental new film (also called The Other Side of the Wind) and an acidic gauntlet of Tinseltown characters, real and fictional....

The upcoming new live action Resident Evil movie seems to have unveiled its poster, with actor Chad Rook posting it on his Twitter account overnight. Rook, who will be playing Richard Aiken in the film posted the image, as well as seemingly confirming earlier reports that the movie will release on September 3 in cinemas. The poster itself features many of the names of the characters who’ll be appearing in the movie, said to much more closely follow the plot of the first two Resident Evil games than the original live-action movie series....
