But sometimes, toys that win the hearts and minds of kids of all ages are given their own comics, allowing toy fans to see their favorite bits of plastic in action by some of the best writers and artists in comics. Many toys have graced the pages of comics over the years, including memorable curiosities like Sectaurs, Madballs, Visionaries, Go-Bots, and so many more, but there have been a few properties that have transcended their humble plastic roots to become the stuff of comic book legend....

Several years after the boom in young adult dystopia movie adaptations comes The Darkest Minds, based on the novel by Alexandra Bracken. This time, the world is affected by a plague that kills pretty much every child, pretty brutally demonstrated in an arresting opening sequence. A sequence that, wisely, doesn’t over-explain, and just gets us into the world as quickly as it can. Five years ago, it would have taken two acts of a movie to set up what The Darkest Minds does here, when the demand was for three or four films in the boxset....

After a major round of announcements for The Division 2 yesterday, including the Warlords of New York expansion, Ubisoft has introduced the first of a major batch of content to the looter shooter. The new content includes weapons, missions, and a whole lot more. The update itself is Episode 3, the newest of The Division 2’s Year One episodic content. Currently, the two new missions added with the update, Coney Island Ball Park and Coney Island Amusement Park, are only available to Year One Pass holders, though other players will be able to access the content on February 19th....

Released in July of 2017, The End Is Nigh is a spiritual successor of sorts to Super Meat Boy, a hard-as-all-hell platformer which got its start on the Newgrounds flash development scene somewhere around a decade ago. Another game from the clinically warped mind of Edmund Mcmillin, The End Is Nigh takes obvious inspiration from the proceeding title, but it offers enough visual and mechanical innovation to escape the shadow of the developer’s previous efforts....

When a movie hits big out of the blue, it’s unwritten Hollywood law that the imitators aren’t too far behind. That’s why when after American Pie brought raunchy teen comedies back to prominence in 1999, the box office was flooded with similar fare for years. The Blair Witch Project, meanwhile, hit out of nowhere, and found footage horror didn’t really taper off until 15 years later. The late Wes Craven even wryly noted just how quickly Hollywood had cashed in on the success of 1996’s Scream when the spoof Scary Movie popped out the year after....

The Uncharted series has been a staple franchise associated with the PlayStation brand for well over a decade now. For many players, Uncharted represented the first modern video game that brought the Indiana Jones fantasy to life, however, Uncharted quickly became one of PlayStation’s most beloved franchises and characters like Nathan Drake being synonymous with the brand. Developer Naughty Dog made the difficult decision to move to bigger things and hang up Drake’s cape in 2016 with Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End, as well as one final story DLC that drastically expanded in scope, eventually turning into the Chloe Fraser-led spin-off, Uncharted: The Lost Legacy....

Well, it’s over. The X Factor 2018 has crowned its winner, with Dalton Harris fending off competition from Anthony Russell and Scarlett Lee, becoming the first foreign act to win the UK show. Fair play to him, but the show just wasn’t the same without Louis ‘you look like a popstar, you sound like a popstar’ Walsh. Maybe next year? Meanwhile, EastEnders welcomed back lovable rogue Alfie Moon to the fold, who is determined to get things back on track with his estranged wife, Kat....

Alex Kidd in Miracle World was a lovely, little platformer for the Sega Master System back in 1986. Nearly 25 years later, a full-on remaster/remake is coming our way. Shown during the IGN Summer of Gaming expo, Alex Kidd in Miracle World DX takes the classic game and gives it new life. The game will very much follow along the lines of Lizardcube’s efforts. However, the Wonder Boy: The Dragon’s Trap developer isn’t involved in this latest remaster....

There’s a The Last of Us board game in the works. This project comes from Themeborne, which is known for its Escape the Dark series. Themeborne will be working closely with The Last of Us developer Naughty Dog on the upcoming release, with its Kickstarter campaign kicking off later this month. As for the board game itself, this will see one to five players taking on the role of either Ellie, Joel, Tess, Bill, Tommy or Marlene....

Resident Evil is a world full of lore, history, likable and hateful characters, and its own fictional sense of virology. Within all this chaos and storytelling are some sick and twisted intentions among the purposes of its infectious experiments. Those who may not follow the storylines closely may miss some of the nuances in Resident Evil’s stories, but for those who are interested, there are some extremely diabolic and over the top themes and sub-plots presented in the franchise....

Many were left disappointed when a new Silent Hill game was not announced during the not-E3-but-sort-of showcases over the last few weeks. However, for those that are keen for more thrills (and bloody spills) in its horror-filled world, fear not, as fans have your backs. A remake of the original Silent Hill is currently being made in Unreal Engine 5 by a group called Codeless Games (via DSO Gaming). And not only is it in development, but we have also been given a peak at 10 minutes of gameplay that focuses on Midwich Elementary School (a major building that protagonist Harry Mason explores in a bid to find his missing daughter)....

Hey! Obsidian’s back! Well, back with a Western-style RPG we mean. The company has been making more complex successful RPGs like Pillars of Eternity for the last couple years but they’ve returned to the Fallout-inspired fold. The Outer Worlds is their newest game, and, like their previous work Fallout: New Vegas, The Outer Worlds has an ultra-difficulty mode. We’re sure many fans of the company remember trying to speedrun Realism mode for the sake of the achievement back in the day....

The PlayStation 5 is finally getting regular restocks in the UK, so hopefully more people have got their hands on one by now and can experience one of the most powerful games consoles made. The DualSense Charging station allows for two DualSense controllers to be charged at once, and as the PS5 only comes with one in the box you might want to grab another to make the most of the charging station and to be able to play with a friend....

The PS5 is currently on its way to a fall 2020 release, meaning new next-gen games should start to appear more. One would expect Sony to be primarily focusing on its upcoming console (which it is, behind the scenes), but the PS4 is getting one of the biggest swan songs in console gaming history with some of the most highly anticipated exclusives of its generation. Most notably, The Last of Us 2 will be closing out the PS4 generation just as The Last of Us did for the PS3....

After bingeing season 2 of Marvel’s The Punisher on Netflix over the weekend, fans are waiting for the other shoe to drop. With Iron Fist, Luke Cage, and Daredevil now having been cancelled by the streaming service, there is every possibility that The Punisher will meet the same fate in the coming weeks.
