The Simpsons will no longer feature white actors voicing non-white characters, according to Variety. The Simpsons producers did not say whether the roles will be recast or written-out. “Moving forward, The Simpsons will no longer have white actors voice non-white characters,” the producers said in a statement. The Fox series made a similar action three years ago, in response to Hari Kondabolu’s TruTV documentary The Trouble With Apu. Hank Azaria, who voiced the Indian-American Kwik-E-Mart owner Apu Nahasapeemapetilon for more than 30 years, stepped down from the role....

In the mid-90s, the Sony PlayStation had somewhat of a mascot revival. Characters like Crash Bandicoot and Spyro headlined their own games, spawning later sequels that found homes outside of a Sony console. That trend continued on in recent times, bringing the first three Crash titles to the PC with the Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy. Bandai Namco is hosting its anime games panel from Anime Expo in Los Angeles and announced a new DLC for Sword Art Online Alicization Lycoris, alongside a Nintendo Switch port. The DLC is titled Blooming of Matricaria, and it’ll be the last one created for the game. We get to see a new character named Rogu, who appears to have known Kirito, Eugeo, and Alice for a long time. Rogu uses axe and shield, and this is also a new battle style available to players....

PlatinumGames, the studio behind Bayonetta, Nier: Automata, and Astral Chain, has gotten a “capital investment” from the world’s biggest gaming company, Tencent (via PlayStation Lifestyle). PlatinumGames president and CEO Kenichi Sato broke the news with an official statement published today. The investment will give the developer greater flexibility and spark new opportunities in the coming year—one of its goals is “exploring self-publishing.” PlatinumGames mentioned its intention to develop new avenues in its core operations in the past, and to secure greater control over its own IPs....

Development of Terraria: Otherworld has officially been shelved, developer Re-Logic has announced on its official forums. The spin-off title to the immensely popular sandbox-scented action title Terraria was originally announced over three years ago for PC, with PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions a possibility down the line. However, the studio confirmed that Otherworld was not only behind schedule but also failed to live up to its original vision, and so made the difficult decision to call time on the project....
