The Ascent launched this week, offering players another cyberpunk-themed adventure to get lost in. We reviewed it and found the game to be a blast, though it did have a few small technical issues, or so we thought. It appears that the Game Pass Microsoft Store version of The Ascent does not have DLSS, whereas those who own the game on Steam get access to the framerate-boosting feature. This issue become apparent when our EIC Cam decided to check the game out after my insistence that everyone with Game Pass give it a go....

The Atlanta Reign are on fire right now. This week saw the Reign win both of their matches and post a 7-1 map record within them. With those two wins, the Atlanta Reign move up to 3-0 in stage 4 and continues to make a push for the season playoffs that are right around the corner. Atlanta has been on a hot streak since their own Homestand (the city of Atlanta hosted OWL for the weekend) at the end of stage 3 and with the 2-2-2 role lock-in effect, have blasted off to a staggering 5-match winning streak....

The launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard took fans of the franchise back to the World War Two era. You can play through a new single player campaign, new multiplayer maps and modes, and continue the dark aether story in Zombies. The Combat Shotgun is the strongest of the four shotgun options in Vanguard’s multiplayer mode. It has the ability to take out an enemy in just one shot. With the best attachments equipped, you can create a powerful Combat Shotgun class that can take out the entire lobby....

Tom Clancy’s The Division is getting a playable beta on Xbox One this December, Ubisoft has announced. The publisher revealed the first details on the upcoming beta during Microsoft’s E3 press conference earlier today, confirming that Xbox One players will be the first to play next year’s online shooter. It remains unclear, however, whether the beta will come to other platforms at a later date [UPDATE: It will. Sign ups are now open on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, with access guaranteed when you pre-order....

We are just two short weeks away from the release of The King of Fighters XV, and excitement is at a fever pitch. We knew the entire launch roster as of a few weeks ago, and that’s all the characters we thought we would see for now. But SNK shattered even more expectations by releasing a new trailer highlighting the first two post-launch The King of Fighters XV DLC teams. Not only that, but it appears to be a family affair....

Christmas time is almost here, and Marvel is giving fans a special present for the Holiday season via the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. Thunderful’s alien infested space caper The Gunk will be coming to PC and Steam, while a new photo mode has been added to Xbox. Following its success on Xbox Games pass, publisher Thunderful is expanding The Gunk’s reach even further. While no exact date has been given yet, it has been announced that the game will be making its way to “Steam and other PC platforms” this Spring. Along with The Gunk’s move to additional platforms, Thunderful has also revealed a new photo-mode for Xbox users....

Mewtwo Strikes Back is getting a lot of hate on Twitter because would it really be a Pokémon-related product if people didn’t complain about it? The Mortuary Assistant, the hit horror videogame from indie videogame developer, DarkStone Digital, is set to be adapted into a feature film by the game’s publisher, DreadXP, and their parent company, Epic Pictures Group as revealed by Deadline. The game, which sees players step into the shoes of Mortuary Apprentice, Rebecca Owens, as she works as the aid to the head mortician at the River Fields Mortuary. However, with the head mortician having difficulties at home requiring them to leave the mortuary periodically due to family emergencies....

The skating sub-genre peaked throughout the 2000s but saw a decline in popularity last decade. However, recent times have seen the likes of Skate 4 announced and Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 + 2 bring life back into the genre. Sony has announced the full lineup for the PlayStation Classic. When the nostalgia-fueled console was announced back in September, only five of those titles were unveiled: Final Fantasy VII, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4, TEKKEN 3, Jumping Flash!, and Wild Arms. Now, you can see the full roster of games. The list is certainly interesting, as it features a lot of “first” titles. Many fans have played the recent Persona, Rainbow Six, and Twisted Metal titles, but not the very first games in the franchises....

Maxis continues to tick those much-requested Sims 4 features off the list as fans wait impatiently for news of the Sims 5, with the developer having now confirmed it’ll finally be giving teen Sims a proper education in its newly announced High School Years Expansion Pack, due 28th July. High School Years, which follows the release of The Sim 4’s excellent Werewolves Game Pack earlier this month, does pretty much exactly what you’d assume it does based on its name, giving players the option to send their teenage Sims off to Copperdale High for a few years of learning and post-class socialising with peers....

It hasn’t been long since The Big Update hit Dota Underlords, bringing with it a lot of change to the game. Since then, there were a lot of minor balance changes and bug fixes to try to get everything in-game on track. With the latest update, Valve has made some noticeable changes to the Underlords that were added to the game with The Big Update. Adding a new type of unit to the game, particularly one that plays such a critical role in your strategy, is always going to require a bit of tweaking to get the balance right....
