Independent UK video games retailers are finding it harder than ever to compete with the aggressive loss-leading prices of video games at supermarkets, reports MCV. One retailer told the trade magazine that the situation is “worse than ever”. “Everyone is trying to have a £40 price point for the games – which is much lower than the £55 RRP,” said the indie retailer. “It’s just not happening.” MCV says that multiple sources have placed the cost price of Fallout 4 at £42, yet larger outlets were selling the game to consumers at a loss leading £40....
There is a moment halfway through The Rhythm Section that encapsulates the entire film’s strengths and weaknesses. It’s a car chase through the streets of Tangier that is shot entirely from the front seat of the vehicle, as terrified would-be assassin Stephanie Patrick (Blake Lively) flees the all-male enemies pursuing and shooting at her. Director Reed Morano puts you right in the middle of the action in what starts out as a stunning one-take sequence but then simply becomes a camera swinging frenetically back and forth as cars torpedo around your peripheral vision....
Indie studio Blazing Griffin has announced The Ship: HD, an HD remake of 2006’s quirky multiplayer murder ’em up due for release early next year. Due for release early next year, the game’s first teaser trailer suggests that fans should expect a major visual overhaul to the PC shooter, with significantly improved lighting and animation. Exact details on how it differs to the original release, however, have yet to be announced....

The Tomorrow Children will arrive this autumn on PS4, developer Q-Games has confirmed. In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Q-Games president and executive producer Dylan Cuthbert shared some more details about the game, as well as unveiling a new trailer. “Players will take control the fate of their town and eventually the world itself as they build up and expand it from a nearly empty outpost into a lively home filled with shops, facilities, and even a home of their very own, all while defending everything they’ve built in life and death struggles with invaders from the edges of existence....
The Walking Dead giveth when The Walking Dead taketh away. After losing Rick Grimes in season 9 and Michonne after this season, The Walking Dead season 10 is set to bring back a familiar face. Lauren Cohan is returning to The Walking Dead season 10 to reprise her role as Maggie Rhee née Greene. AMC made the announcement during The Walking Dead panel at New York Comic Con 2019. When you’re playing The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, you play as the famed witcher Geralt of Rivia for the majority of the game. However, you also get to play as Geralt and Yennefer’s surrogate daughter (and one of the main book characters) Ciri, for several chapters of the game. She’s a very important character; the entire main storyline is about Geralt and Yennefer trying to find Ciri before the Wild Hunt gets to her....
The fifth and sixth DLC releases for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt will be available this week, CD Projekt Red has announced. The Nilfgaardian Armor Set and Elite Crossbow Set will be free to download, as was announced back in November 2014. A further 10 free DLCs are scheduled. All this is just the starter before the main course arrives. Two major expansions, offering a total of 30 hours of content, will launch in October and Q1 2016....
Dotemu and Guard Crush Games have announced that the Mr. X Nightmare DLC for Streets of Rage 4 will land on July 15. The DLC, as previously established, will include three new characters in the form of Shiva, Max Thunder and Estel Aguirre. It’ll also include a brand new Survival Mode that sees you head into a simulation where you’ll have to take on endless waves of enemies. Completing each wave also lets you pick from a set of randomised perks for the next one....
The Lego Group and Nintendo have revealed their latest Lego Super Mario collaboration, with a Question Mark Block set based on Super Mario 64. Presented as one of the series’ iconic Question Mark blocks, the set opens up revealing mini-recreations of several classic stages. These include Bob-omb Battlefield, Cool, Cool Mountain, Lethal Lava Trouble and of course, the iconic Peach’s Castle. The set also includes ten microfigures, with teeny-tiny versions of Mario, Yoshi, Princess Peach, King Bob-omb and more....
Dishonored: The Roleplaying Game is now available digitally, priced at £15, or about $18 (via GameSpot). Developer Modiphius—which also offers tabletop games based on The Elder Scrolls, Star Trek, and Conan—produced the 300-page hardback rule book that has the player take on the role of a pre-made or custom character in the world of Dishonored. Voice actor Tara Strong has criticised the new Mario movie for not offering the titular role to Mario’s in-game voice actor, Charles Martinet. Announced back in 2018, The Super Mario Bros. Movie is a collaboration between Nintendo and Universal Pictures’ Illumination animation division. It sees Chris Pratt heading an all-star cast that includes Jack Black as Bowser and Anya Taylor-Joy as Princess Peach. In a tweet, Strong - whose own prolific career includes voice performances as Harley Quinn, Batgirl, and Fairly Odd Parents’ Timmy Turner - posted a photograph of herself and Martinet with the text: “it should be Charles”....
PC gamers will soon be able to more easily modify Dying Light thanks to the launch of Techland created modding tools, the studio has announced. “The release of Dying Light has already been met an amazing positive response from gamers around the globe. Turner “Tfue” Tenney is best known for his skilled Fortnite plays and streaming on Twitch, and now in a recent interview with the Washington Post, he discusses plans to branch into something new which he is calling Tfue Studios for aspiring content creators.
