Truth be told, I don’t usually care much for top-down shooters. It isn’t that they can’t be fun but the genre is filled with many uninspired games that all play alike. It’s for this reason that Flow Fire Games’ Synthetik 2 was so interesting to me. Unlike most of its competitors, it tries to be something more than just another generic game. Synthetik 2 is an Early Access top-down shooter that is expected to launch in 2022....
It’s hard to believe how much games have changed since the ’80s. Both arcade and console games often took less than an hour to beat, and that was perfectly fine. Some of our most memorable experiences are from those short, simple games. Tanuki Justice is one of those retro throwbacks that looks and feels exactly like the classics. It’s extremely short and not especially unique, but its charming pixel graphics, challenging levels, and responsive controls make it well worth a play or three....
After surprise server maintenance, Teamfight Tactics players found a new world. Set 2, also known as Rise of the Elements, brings a new map, champions, and rules to League’s auto-chess mode. Blindly going into games as I did is unadvised; you’ll have fun, but quick losses are waiting, and it’s a toss-up if you’ll encounter a viable strategy to learn from. 2D Sandbox games provide a different charm to gaming. Building your own world just adds to the fascination that such games offer. The gameplay of Terraria revolves around the player’s ability to explore, build, craft, combat, survive, and mine. As you progress, you will be crafting and finding quite a few items and resources in the game. One such item or technically a type of weapon is Vampire Knives. They are a Hardmode set of melee weapons obtained way after the boss Plantera is defeated....
Red Bull is releasing its own, new twist on one of the most ageless formulas in video games with the release of TETRIS M1ND BEND3R. The game starts out like the standard Tetris that gamers across generations know and love, until special blocks create Matrix-altering effects that will require quick gameplay adaptations (and for clarification’s sake, the space into which the tetrominoes fall is officially known as the Matrix, and is unrelated to the virtual goings-on of Neo and Trinity)....
The Pokémon and Ed Sheeran collaboration that was teased last week will actually be featured within upcoming games Violet and Scarlet. The song, titled Celestial, was released yesterday and its music video features Sheeran going about his daily life as his Pokémon pals join him from a hand-drawn and animated universe. Upon its release, both Pokémon and Sheeran revealed the song will be featured in Nintendo’s upcoming titles. It’s not clear to what extent Celestial will appear in the games, though Sheeran’s Twitter account stated it will be “hidden”, implying players will have to do some legwork to find it in-game....

Sony’s PlayStation console was released in 1995. Previously, the console space had been dominated by Nintendo and Sega. The BBC is to launch a new BBC Two drama based on Rockstar’s open-world hit Grand Theft Auto. The TV show will be broadcast as part of the company’s “season of coding-based programmes and activities”, although further details have yet to be revealed. The programme forms part of the BBC’s new ‘Make it Digital’ campaign that will see the company provide one million mini-computers to children across the country as it aims to “make the UK more digital”....

The Expanse is a series that prioritizes inclusive storytelling, boasting a diverse cast in its story set roughly 200 years in our future, when Earth has colonized both Mars and the resource-rich asteroid belt, the latter of which is mined by the working class Belters. Introversion Software, the studio behind Prison Architect, has revealed its next game: The Last Starship. It’s a similarly styled sim game, this time taking place in space - obviously. Players will construct a spaceship and go on adventures across multiple, procedurally generated star systems. The team is quick to note the game is not even in alpha yet, but has released a lengthy video showing off gameplay with placeholder art - give it a watch below....
Today developer Free Range Games and publisher North Beach Games announced a new LOTR game, The Lord of the Rings: Return to Moria. The game, set in J.R.R. Tolkien’s super-popular fantasy world, is a survival crafting game coming to PC via Epic Games Store in 2023. If you’re wondering, it appears that it’ll be exclusive. The fourth Pokémon to star in the upcoming 8th generation Pokémon Sword & Shield might have just been leaked online, and it goes by the name of Petromite. So far, Game Freak has revealed just three Pokémon in Sword & Shield: the grass monkey Grookey, the fire rabbit Scorbunny, and the sad tadpole Sobble. These three starters continue in a long tradition of Fire/Grass/Water types that form the holy trinity of Pokémon games....
