In a bittersweet moment at this year’s Game Awards, Rocksteady confirmed that Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will feature one of Kevin Conroy’s final performances as Batman.
The news also came along with a confirmed release date for the Arkham set game, where it seems we’ll be seeing a far more villainous Batman than we’re used to.
This all ties in with the game’s plot, of course – where members of the Justice League including Superman, The Flash and now ol’ Batman himself seem to have come under the influence of a mysterious evil force.
It’ll be up to you as the four members of the misfit supervillain team Suicide Squad – Harley Quinn, King Shark, Captain Boomerang and Deadshot – to stop them.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League release date
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League will arrive on May 26, 2023 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
The role will be longtime Batman voice actor Kevin Conroy’s final outing as the caped crusader, as the actor sadly passed away following a long illness back in November.
Conroy was undoubtedly the most famous and prolific actor to don the mantle outside of the movies, having first came to prominence in the role with the 90s Batman: The Animated Series.
He’d then go on to voice Batman in a whole host of Batman projects since, including many of his video game outings. These included, of course, the Arkham series, of which developers Rocksteady are behind this Suicide Squad game too.
In fact, the trailer paid tribute to Conroy’s performance, honouring him for his many years of service in bringing the character to life with a simple ‘Thank You Kevin’ with the Batman symbol at the end of the footage.
Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League was originally planned to release in 2022, but was pushed to Spring of 2023 back in March.
In the meantime, DC fans have seen Batman in WB’s MultiVersus – as well as the Caped Crusader appearing at the start of Gotham Knights – of which you can read our review here.
