Super Mega Baseball 2 will launch for PS4 in 2017, building on the first game in three key areas – presentation, customisation and online play – Metalhead Software co-founder Scott Drader has announced.
“To put it simply, Super Mega Baseball 2 will look a lot better than Super Mega Baseball 1,” says Drader. “You will also notice a more mature vibe.
Whilst the sequel isn’t going for utlra realism, gone is the super lighthearted look of the first game.
“Expect to see more realistically proportioned and more detailed characters, a modernised interface, and a vastly improved lighting and material model (the technical term is Physically Based Rendering — all the cool kids are doing it these days). Think of the presentation upgrades as an initiative to make sure you have an easy time recruiting your friends to play with you,” explains Drader.
Customisation options have been greatly expanded, with the sequel enabling players to edit team names, logos, and uniforms. Custom teams can then be placed into custom leagues. Player skills, gear and animations can also be tweaked.
You can also expect online play, though Drader isn’t ready to go into details at this time.
