Becoming a Temtem tamer is all about understanding Temtem types and how they interact.

Welcome to Temtem Typing 101. For those of you that have played a Pokémon game before, the concept of type advantages and disadvantages will be nothing new to you. However, Temtem shakes things up a bit: not all of the same types have translated over from Pokémon, and there are some new types that have never been seen before. Type interactions aren’t the same in Temtem as they are in Pokémon, either.

For a quick reference, we have a few handy Temtem type charts to make things easier. We’ll also go over each and every Temtem type, so you gain a thorough understanding of each type’s strengths and weaknesses.

The Twelve Types Of Temtem

Temtem has 12 types to contend with, as opposed to Pokémon’s 18. This makes things a little easier to keep track of, but you’ll need to abandon whatever knowledge you retain of Pokémon type advantages. Not all the same types are present and the ones that are don’t have the same advantages and disadvantages as you might remember.

The 12 Temtem types are Fire, Nature, Water, Electric, Mental, Earth, Wind, Crystal, Digital, Melee, Toxic, and Neutral. Let’s go over each of these in-depth.

Neutral

Pokémon Equivalent: Normal

Just as Pokémon has Normal-type, Temtem has Neutral-type. These Temtem aren’t necessarily the strongest since they don’t have any advantages over any other type, but they’re also very versatile since they have few weaknesses. Neutral-types are only weak against Mental-types, which appears to be a swap with Pokémon’s Normal-type weakness against Fighting-type.

Fire

Pokémon Equivalent: Fire

Fire types are temperamental, powerful, and unpredictable. You’ll need to go someplace equally dangerous and unpredictable to find one of these Temtem–namely, the Anak Volcano. Fire-types are weak against Water and Earth-types but are strong against Nature and Crystal-types.

Nature

Pokémon Equivalent: Grass

Where Pokémon has Grass, Temtem has Nature-types. These Temtem aren’t necessarily walking plants, but more like nature spirits that have taken on Temtem form. Nature-type Temtem are strong against Water and Earth-types, but weak against Fire and Toxic-types.

Water

Pokémon Equivalent: Water

Water types are the fishy, friendly Temtem that inhabits the Archipelago’s lakes, rivers, and streams. They can mainly be found around SIllaro, the largest body of water in the world of Temtem. Water-types are strong against Fire, Earth, and Digital-types, but are weak against Nature, Electric, and Toxic-types.

Electric

Pokémon Equivalent: Electric

Electric-types are Temtem that can harness the power of lightning. They’re quick, restless, and also extremely powerful for having the most type advantages of any Temtem type. Electric-type Temtem are strong against Water, Mental, Wind, and Digital-types, but are weak against only Earth and Crystal-types.

Mental

Pokémon Equivalent: Psychic

Where Pokémon had Psychic, Temtem has Mental-types. Mental-types are the brainy bunch and are able to launch psychic assaults to subdue their foes. They typically have more Special Attack than Attack, but often have low Defense.

Mental-types are strong against Neutral and Melee-types, but weak against Electric, Crystal, and Wind-types.

Earth

Pokémon Equivalent: Rock/Ground

Ground and Rock are combined into the single Earth-type Temtem. These Temtem are sturdy and possess a strong bond to the very ground itself. They’re strong against Fire, Electric, and Crystal-types, but are weak against Nature, Water, and Melee-types.

Wind

Pokémon Equivalent: Flying

These Temtem are the ones that fly. As such, they’re very useful to have around. You start the game with Tuwai, but you’ll find better Wind-types as you progress. Wind-type Temtem are weak against Electric-types, but strong against Toxic-types.

Crystal

Pokémon Equivalent: None

The first of our totally new types, the Crystal-type Temtem are a weird combination of mineral and biological. They have great strength and endurance but are a little fragile against certain types like Fire, Earth, and Melee. However, Crysta-types are great against Electric and Mental Temtem.

Digital

Pokémon Equivalent: None/Dragon

The second of the new Temtem-only types, Digital-types represents the new frontier of cyberspace. These critters represent technological wonders in organic form–sort of. We’re still not clear how these creatures exist at all, but we know they’re really powerful.

Digital-type Temtem are sort of like Pokémon’s Dragon-type in that they’re both strong against and weak to themselves. Digital-type Temtem are also strong against Mental and Melee-types, but weak against Water and Electric-types.

Melee

Pokémon Equivalent: Fighting

The Melee Temtem are all about getting up close and personal. These are the warrior Temtem, bred for combat. They all have great Speed and physical Attack stats but are weak against Special Attack techniques.

Melee-types are strong against Earth and Crystal Temtem, but are weak against Mental and Digital Temtem.

Toxic

Pokémon Equivalent: Poison

Toxic Temtem represents venomous creatures, of which there are plenty in the barrens of Tucma. They have a natural strength against Nature and Water-types but are weak against Wind-type Temtem.

Origins And Explanations Of Types

Pokémon fans will recognize a lot of these typings, such as Water, Fire, and Electric. Many other typings, like Melee, Mental, and Neutral, have direct equivalents in the Pokémon games and play out essentially the same in Temtem.

However, Temtem doesn’t seem to focus too much on the elemental types. In Temtem, the three starters are Crystal, Mental, and Melee-types; the rock, paper, scissors balance is maintained, but Temtem achieves it in a different way using different types.

Other Temtem types might have a rough equivalent in Pokémon but are handled a little differently. Toxic Temtem, for example, seems to limit itself to poisonous and venomous creatures rather than include pollution and garbage, as in Pokémon. Toxic Temtem also have a disadvantage against Wind-type Temtem, possibly representing how venomous snakes are often preyed upon by hawks and eagles.

Crystal is an interesting type. The advantage over Mental-type Temtem seems to come from the new-age crystal healing movement, which states that certain crystal formations like quartz, amethyst, or opal have some sort of inherent healing power in the body. It doesn’t, and this likely drives Mental-type Temtem just as crazy as it does rational human beings.

Finally, we arrive at Digital. Digital is a fantastic new type that acknowledges digital technology in a fun way. Its strength over other Digital Temtem seems to be based on the recent discovery that the Internet is a double-edged sword: it can be used for great good, or it can be used for great evil.

All in all, Temtem typings are a little different from Pokémon, but they might be a little more intuitive if you sit down and think about it. If you prefer not to think, we’ve got some handy charts for you to use.
