Remember that Funko Pop! game that got announced earlier this year? Well, it ain’t dead yet.

The game is called Funko Pop! Blitz, and as you might have guessed, it’s a mobile title focused around collection various Pop!s. What’s a Pop!, you ask? Well, it’s those little stylized plastic figurines that you see at pretty much any store even remotely game-related these days.

For a while it seemed like Funko would take over the world, but now it just seems like they’ve decided to stop at taking over everyone’s desks. However, they’re still trying to make inroads with people’s phones via this mobile game.

Funko ran into a bit of a snag earlier this year when their development partner, NBCUniversal, decided to pull the plug on its games development division and shut down their studio. Lucky for Funko, a new developer called N3twork recently stepped in to complete development of Funko Pop! Blitz.

N3twork acquired the game from NBCUniversal in an announcement on Wednesday. They’ll continue development under the supervision of NBCUniversal, who maintains the rights to all their IPs. That’s why Funko Pop! Blitz will still be riddled with NBCUniversal movie properties, such as Back to the Future, Jurassic Park, Shrek, How to Train Your Dragon, and the Universal Monsters.

So far, the game seems to be a pretty standard match-3 mobile title with a bit of added Pop! collection on the side. You acquire new Pop!s via gameplay (or by paying for them, presumably) which will give you new powers to match 3 tiles. Or you can trade with people online to complete your collection.

It seems fine, but part of the appeal of Funko Pop!s is that they literally come in every flavor you can possibly imagine. Pop!s that are limited to just NBCUniversal properties lose a lot of their appeal unless you REALLY like Shrek and Kung Fu Panda.

No word on when this Funko Pop! Blitz will see the light of day, but our guess is some time in 2020.
