Xaviant released their battle royale title The Culling into Early Access at the end of 2016 and it plodded along until the player numbers dropped off. There were better versions of the genre popping up but that;s not phases them as now they have announced The Culling 2.

In October last year The Culling was eventually released, but by that point, PUBG and Fortnite had taken a tight grip on genre. Realising they were on a hiding to nothing, Xaviant decided to stop all support for the game in December 2017, three months after it left Early Access. In December they wrote:

That new title now appears to be a sequel to a game they abandoned three months after launch which is a bit cheeky. They took the cash and failed to follow through with support after realising what they had was not up to scratch compared to the competition. With Fortnite now even more established I have no idea what they are thinking by announcing a sequel at this point in time. With any luck, gamers will be savvy enough to avoid The Culling 2, this smells of a cash grab. I could be wrong, but it would not be surprising,
