After a long wait, Discord’s store is finally here and ready to give Steam a run for its money. Discord launched the beta version of its store worldwide today after announcing this news back in August. It’s nice for gamers to have a second option when it comes buying their games and also great to see Discord branching out like this.
We checked out the prices of some games that the Discord store had to offer. Here’s how they stack up compared to previous pricing points:
Celeste
Steam: $21.99
Discord: $22.79
Description:
Frostpunk
Steam: $33.99
Discord: $33.99
Into the Breach
Steam: $17.49
Discord: $17.49
Dead Cells
Steam: $29.99
Discord: $29.99
Subnautica
Steam: $28.99
Discord: $28.99
As you can see, some of the games are equal in price on Steam vs Discord. At least, for now. Discord may very well change that to compete with Steam and get players to come over from there.
Free Games With Nitro
If you don’t want to buy games individually, you can also opt-in to Discord’s Nitro subscriptions. The Nitro Classic model, which only has chat perks, is still available for the price of $4.99/month or $49.99/year. However, if you prefer the pricier option — $9.99/month, $99.99/year (with two months free) — you get a whole slew of games. This includes some pretty good titles, such as:
Guacamelee! Super Turbo Championship Edition
Steam: $14.99
Torchlight II
Super Meat Boy
Steam: $16.99
RollerCoaster Tycoon 2: Triple Thrill Pack
Steam: $10.99
Psychonauts
By opting into the Nitro service, you are getting a great deal and saving a ton on some of these games compared to buying them all individually. Discord is really off to a fantastic start, and it’s surely just a matter of time before we see other big titles on the new service. Don’t forget you can also launch these games directly from Discord itself, making it easier to game and chat.
The Discord Store service just began today, but stay tuned for future coverage on sales. You can also check out some of our previous coverage here.
