The first raid for The Division 2, called Operation Dark Hours will be released tomorrow, and it will not feature any matchmaking.
This means that you can’t just jump into the raid with random players and that you will need some friends, some phones, and quite possibly a WhatsApp group chat. You will need seven of them as well, as the raid mode requires eight players.
This has caused some frustration from the game’s fans, and a representative from Ubisoft’s marketing team, Alexandre Guenounou, has said in response, ‘About the matchmaking topic for #TheDivision2 Raid: give me a bit of time to circle back with the @UbiMassive team and we’ll get you a full overview and explanation.’
It’s quite a strange turn of events, given that it was previously stated that The Division 2 would have matchmaking for all of its modes:
This makes The Division 2 similar to Destiny 2, which requires that players have teams ready and made before playing the game’s raids.
