The Elder Scrolls: Blades is celebrating the Witching season with the game’s 1.4 patch. This ghoulish update transforms the town into a complete spook-fest with the help of thematic decor and new spine-tingling questlines. Patch 1.4 also revamps nearly the entire spell collection permanently in ode to the witchiest of the Blades throughout Tamriel.
The Witches Festival
Blades are welcomed back in-game with an all-new dark and foreboding nighttime view of the town. Adventurers will find their village overrun with eerie candles, spiderwebs, and pumpkins, all cast in an ominous light fit for a werewolf. The tricks and treats continue with a plethora of spooktastic decor made easily attainable through the Workshop or as rewards for completing any of the new festive quests. These ghastly endeavors play host to a series of creepy-crawly spiders, abandoned towns, cave-lurking creatures, and haunted castles.
Patch 1.4 introduces four bone-chilling quests to celebrate the Witches Festival. With evidently shaken townsfolk (some downright delirious), frightening creatures amidst the shadows, and one quest breathing blood-curdling whispers down the back of your neck, there is no shortage of spooks and scares to be had this Witching season.
A Cornucopia of Patch Notes and a Spell Overhaul
The complete list of patch notes addresses tweaks made to weapons, armor, and items along with a huge run-down on numerous changes made to combat. These changes are likely due to the huge spell overhaul made to accompany the witchy festivities.
The spell overhaul is a permanent revamp of nearly the entire spell collection. For any arcane-savvy Blade, the most exciting revision is likely that casting can no longer be interrupted (except maybe by stun or paralysis effects). Luckily, the “Fire Ball” spell will no longer cause damage to the caster when interrupted by said effects. Additionally, the “Willpower” perk now offers damage-resistance while casting. Most of the spell revisions pertain to boosting spell damage and reducing personal sacrifice to the caster. This is going to make arcane-based battle styles immensely more efficient!
A Most Frightful Witching Season
Bethesda really got into the witching spirit, dedicating nearly an entire patch to the spookiest season of all. The spell-overhaul makes it easier than ever for an occult-loving Blade to let their arcane talents shine through and will surely coax the witchiest of Tamriel’s ranks out of the woodwork.
