Based on the series of novels of the same name by James S. A. Corey, The Expanse is set in a future where humanity has colonised the Solar System. It’s a space-based political conspiracy thriller, in which crime meets intergalactic tensions that threaten an already very fragile peace between nations.

Children Of Men and Iron Man writing team Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby brought Corey’s novels to the small screen with great ambition and depth… which is probably why it got cancelled.

Cancellation

May 2018 was a tumultuous time for fans of The Expanse. Two thirds of the way through season three, Syfy announced it wouldn’t be renewing the show. It was a frustrating move, particularly as the third run of the space-set political thriller had been receiving an overwhelmingly enthusiastic reception from all quarters – critics, fans, amalgamated review sites, that woman at work, those guys chatting on the bus… everyone loved it.
