A new Crash Bandicoot game is coming, but it seems to be an endless runner for mobile devices (via Eurogamer).
An endless runner for Crash Bandicoot… works. It may disappoint those who were holding out for the rumoured “Crash Bandicoot Worlds”, but Activision CEO Bobby Kotick did reveal intentions to “tap into [its] portfolio of beloved IP to bring several remastered and reimagined experiences to players in 2020.” So, it’s not out of the race, but we might be waiting a little longer for a whole new adventure with Crash.
The game was leaked through Facebook ads, and it appears to be being developed by mobile studio King, who in turn is owned by Activision. Storemaven hosted a description of the new game that said the player would “jump, slide, spin, and surf on the iconic tracks of Wumpa Island” as they foil Dr Cortex’s plans to dominate the multiverse. Kind of like Temple Run but wearing Crash Bandicoot’s skin, and they’ll be able to build a base to work with Coco to produce power ups and make new weapons.
