The Outer Worlds, which came out on October 25, amazed many RPG fans with its abundance of choice and campy humor. It also filled the missing RPG void that many gamers were experiencing. It’s an expansive game that has players exploring the Halycon solar system, a place overrun by corrupt corporations.

Most people have beaten the game already, if not then that’s ok too, but there is so much The Outer Worlds offers. There are also games that can scratch The Outer World’s itch if you’ve already beat it numerous times. Here is what to do if you beat the game and loved it.

10 Explore Halycon

After beating the game, go back to that final save and explore each available planet in Halycon. Turn off any objectives and just explore to see what’s waiting for you. There might be some NPC’s, you missed the first time waiting to give you a new quest or an area with some unique weapons to collect.

Also, try talking to new people and reading through logs to learn how detailed Halycon really is. Scylla might be prime exploration since there were not many main quests there. Players might even find a secret boss fight.

9 Face the Consequences

The Outer Worlds has several difficult decisions to make along the way. Most people know about the first major decision to divert power away from one of the towns in Emerald Vale. Go back and check on the two towns. Think about all the decisions you made throughout your playthrough and go see the results of them. It’s also a good test of the game itself. It’s a way to see how actions can affect the world. The structure of the main campaign can even be changed significantly based on decisions so the outcomes may look a little different for each player.

8 Finish Companion Quests

The companions are arguably the best part of the experience and their quests are some of the best the game has to offer. Some companions are better than others but each has a fun personality that can be explored further in their quests.

If you ignored Vicar Max because he was a jerk, then give him a chance and learn his backstory. Nyoka and Ellie have fascinating backstories and Parvati makes fetch quests fun. Fans would do almost anything for her really. Players have to do Sam’s quest to recruit him and Felix, well Felix kind of sucks, not going to lie.

7 Find the Science Weapons

These make combat, which can be a little stale, a bit more exciting. They’re good for experimenting with combat and taking enemies out in unique ways. There are five science weapons to find across Halycon and this guide will prove helpful in finding them.

The search and experimentation with these weapons give players another reason to jump into the game. Invest some experience points in the science skill as well to make the weapons even more powerful. One of the best for making weak points available is the gloop gun, which sends enemies floating into the air.

6 Go On A Rampage

You would be lying if you never saved the game before attacking a whole town of people in an RPG. It’s especially satisfying when there is an annoying NPC giving you some trouble. There is always a save to go back to and act like nothing ever happened.

Go to Byzantium where some of the most infuriating NPCs live and see how long you can last when the board guards attack you. Take out some of the major quest givers to see how the game responds. This is not usually the best way to play a game but it’s fun experimentation.

5 Be Dumb

One of the best options is to replay the game and see how different things turn out. A good way to do this is to change your character build. Players can make their character dumb, which unlocks dumb dialogue options. This will create an even funnier gameplay experience while opening new paths for the player.

For example, without getting into spoilers, there is an ending that is only available if your character is dumb. This is a unique but worthwhile option if you’re looking for a new character build.

4 Choose a Different Side

Replay the game and side with some different factions. The major choice is the board or Phineas Welles. This will drastically change the gameplay experience. There are also many other options as the player explores halcyon.

Monarch, for instance, has several different factions to side with that can alter the course of that particular questline. Another small element to experiment with is changing the companions in your party. Different companions will lead to new commentary and dialogue. This one may seem obvious but it is a definite option for anyone wanting more out of The Outer Worlds.

3 Beat the Game in 12 Minutes

There are many ways to play the game, even a 12-minute speedrun (without load screens) that requires skills and researched strategies. Speedrunner CreeperHntr found out how to beat the game in 12 minutes. Find out how he did it here.

It would be a fun experience to beat the game as fast as you can. It may be nearly impossible to get a 12-minute run but it’s worth a try. You never know, maybe you will beat CreeperHntr’s record and became a famous speedrunner.

2 Play Some Other Obsidian Games

You may have loved The Outer Worlds but want to find something new to play. If that’s so, then check out on some of the other games Obsidian has to offer. They are old but still offer an in-depth RPG experience with intricate choices.

Fallout: New Vegas is a great option that has a similar type of humor as The Outer Worlds. The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivian is another great option, which is regarded by some as the best Elder Scrolls game. Playing these should take up some time until the inevitable Outer Worlds sequel is announced.

1 Take a Look at Grounded

Grounded is Obsidian’s next project after being purchased by Microsoft. It is a four-player survival game where the main characters are the size of ants. Grounded is a transition from Obsidian’s usual RPG format to a multiplayer game but it looks promising and unique. The game releases Spring 2020 for Xbox One and PC. Take a look at the trailers and news stories about the game if The Outer Worlds turned you into an Obsidian fan. It may be a game worth the investment.
