These new additions mean that the It Takes Two movie is now being backed by quite the line-up. Pat Casey and John Miller are working as the executive producers. Given their history as writers for both Sonic the Hedgehog films, it’s clear that they know how to make a good video game movie. They bring a skill set that the industry is desperate for. Anyone who was unfortunate enough to watch the Assassin’s Creed movie will know that.
A new era
For the longest time, video game movies have sucked. From the infamous Super Mario Bros film to more recent attempts like 2014’s Need for Speed, they just don’t tend to be good. However, things do seem to be changing for the better. The Sonic the Hedgehog films and Pokémon Detective Pikachu show that video game movies are getting better. All we can hope for is that It Takes Two continues that trend and more great game movies come to see the light of day. Hazelight studio manager Oskar Wolontis is enthusiastic about the film’s potential, though. Wolontis stated, “We’re very excited for the opportunity to expand this beloved IP beyond gaming, for both new and returning fans to appreciate.”
