Anna Henrietta is one of the main characters you’ll encounter in the Blood and Wine expansion pack. She is the one that will give Geralt his main mission for the DLC. She is also the ruling duchess of the region of Toussaint, as her former husband, Raymund, died. She is also known as “Anarietta” by some people but she demands that most refer to her by “Your Grace.”

Anna’s main purpose in the game is to find her sister, Syanna, who is intent upon murdering her sister. It will be up to Geralt to decide how the story of the two sisters plays out. The following list identifies some intriguing traits about one of the game’s most entertaining and fun characters.

10 She Once Had An Affair With Dandelion

We all know the lovesick troubadour has a penchant for getting involved with ladies, especially if they are unattainable. That seems to make the appeal even stronger for Dandelion. In the past, he and Anna Henrietta fell in love and struck up an affair while Anna was still married to Raymund.

Unfortunately for Anna, when Raymund found out he not only murdered the messenger but he also imprisoned Anna. Of course, Raymund was also a serial cheater and therefore a massive hypocrite. Dandelion disappeared to avoid Raymund’s rage.

9 She Loves The Artist Dorian Vilesse

You’ll discover in the Blood and Wine DLC that Anna is a fan of the artist known as Dorian Vilesse. He is a renowned artist that only paints his subjects nude. Despite this, Anna claims to love his work and even dreams of being painted by him someday.

The implication is that she might not be so shy about having herself painted in her birthday suit as one might expect of the regal Duchess. Even though her own steward severed contact with him, she hints that someday she might make it a reality.

8 Anna Is Quite Different In The Game Than In The Books

Most fans really enjoy Anna’s characterization in the games as she is shown to be a mostly benevolent ruler, if not a little vain. However, those who have read the book might notice that she is quite different from her novel counterpart.

In the book series, Anna has a penchant for being rather childish and her selfish tendencies are much more noticeable. That said, a lot of time has passed from when Geralt first met Anna in the books and when they meet again in Blood and Wine. She may have just matured during that period.

7 Raymund Wanted To Tear Out Dandelion’s Heart

If you want to understand the true depravity of Raymund then all you have to do is read Lady of the Lake and see how he handles the whole Dandelion/Anna affair. It’s a good thing that Dandelion went on the run because Raymund ordered his men to hunt the singer down.

Not only did he want Dandelion killed, but he also wanted his heart ripped out, cooked, and then he planned to make Anna eat it in front of him. Remember, Raymund did all this while still having several mistresses of his own.

6 Whether Or Not Anna Lives Or Dies Is Up To You

Depending on the decisions you make while playing the Blood and Wine DLC, you might kill Anna or she might survive. There are three possible endings for Anna’s storyline. If you manage to keep Syanna alive and encourage her to forgive her sister, then you get a relatively happy ending.

However, there is also a choice to keep Syanna alive but not convince her to forgive Anna, which results in Syanna murdering her sister. The final ending occurs when Geralt lets Syanna die, which ignites Anna’s aggressive temper.

5 Anna Is Supposedly Beloved By All Of Her Subjects

Not many people were angry about the death of Raymund. As we’ve already discussed above, he was an extremely cruel and deceitful man and didn’t have many fans in the region of Toussaint.

However, supposedly, Anna had a lot of loyal followers and supporters. In the journal entry about Anna, it is mentioned that her followers have “absolute adoration” for her. But, then again, one has to keep in mind that the journals are written by Dandelion and not necessarily an objectional viewpoint.

4 Anna Sentenced Dandelion To Death

Unfortunately, the love story of Dandelion and Anna ended unhappily when Dandelion was caught cozying up to the baroness, Veronique. Even before he was with Veronique or Anna, he was with Priscilla, his wandering eye can apparently not be tamed.

When Anna discovered Dandelion’s infidelity, she wanted him killed and sentenced him to death. Luckily for the troubadour, Anna eventually changed her mind and was persuaded to banish him instead.

3 Anna Was Partially Responsible For Her Sister’s Banishment

The Blood and Wine DLC dives into the complicated relationship between Anna and Syanna. The two women were quite close when they were much younger and often got along, although they did get into vicious fights at times. At one point, Syanna even knocked out some of Anna’s teeth.

One day, they threw fish bladders at Nilfgaardian envoy. Syanna wound up getting banished from the realm because Anna refused to speak up in her defense or to tell anyone that she was also involved. Syanna took the betrayal very seriously with an intent to murder her sister.

2 She Has Eight Different Wardrobe Options In The Game

It’s not very common for NPCs to have a large number of dresses and wardrobes since their characters are relatively unaffected by the player. However, that’s not the case for Anna, who has at least eight different outfits she wears throughout the game.

There are eight different models of her character and her original and the main outfit comes in five different shades of color. It’s very fitting for her character, given how superficial and arrogant Anna can be.

1 She Is A Little Blinded By Her Love Of Fairy Tales

A big part of the Blood and Wine expansion is the Land of a Thousand Fables, a Fablesphere created by a famous illusionist for a young Anna and Syanna. They spent a great deal of time there, surrounded by fairy tales, influenced by their powerful stories and magical creatures.

Because of this, Anna has a skewed view of the world and often believes that real life will play out just like a fairy tale. She is quite naïve in that way.
