Geralt of Rivia has faced many fearsome opponents during his career. From dragons to vampires, the white wolf has learned to combat some of The Witcher’s most fearsome foes. Now that Geralt is staring in his own Netflix series, you may be wondering just how well this witcher would fare against enemies from other series.
The anime genre, in particular, offers a host of interesting matchups, many of which would truly test Geralt’s’ skills. Below We’re taking a look at 5 anime characters that Geralt could beat and 5 that he would likely lose to.
10 Win: Himura Kenshin
There is no doubt that Kenshin is one of the most skilled samurai in all of anime. While he could certainly hold his own if Geralt only used his sword, powers like igni would easily overtake Kenshin. There is also the fact that Geralt wears armor while Kenshin wears only a classical Japanese kimono that offers him little to no protection against weapons. Even Geralt’s brute physical strength is likely much greater than Kenshin’s.
With all of these factors combined, we can assume that Geralt would be able to disarm or takedown Kenshin within a matter of minutes.
9 Lose: Kirito
Kirito has an unfair advantage over almost everyone, as many Sword Art Online fans will tell you. Kirito excels at any game or weapon he decides to wield and automatically has higher stats than most other players. If Geralt was transported into the game world of SAO, then he would have a hard time keeping up with Kirito. Even attacks like igni would do little damage, as Kirito has high defense stats.
Outside of the game, however, there wouldn’t even be much of a fight as Kirito is just an average teenager with no special abilities.
8 Win: Zero Kiryu
For fans of shoujo anime, Zero is a popular vampire that works to win the heart of the girl he loves. Sadly, even with his ability to handle a magical gun, we don’t think he’d be much of a threat to Geralt. Zero is a rash character who is ready for a fight and often rejects his vampiric roots. Because of this, Geralt could easily cut down the half-human in a matter of seconds.
We should also mention that Geralt has fought many types of vampires, many that were much more cunning than Zero.
7 Lose: Alucard
If you’re familiar with Hellsing, then you’ve probably heard of the powerful character Alucard. Alucard hunts vampires and is extremely good at it. He is armed with two guns that would likely be able to break through Geralt’s armor and take the witcher down. Not only that, but Alucard is a powerful vampire that has some special abilities of his own. This includes superhuman speed that he could use to get close to Geralt quickly.
Geralt can prepare as many oils as he wants, but he isn’t likely to land a hit on this otherworldly anime protagonist.
6 Win: Migi
Parasyte is a horrifying anime about aliens who burrow into human bodies and take control of their bodies. Migi is an alien who failed at his mission to overtake his host’s body and now permanently lives in his hand. Together with his host, Shinichi, the pair can take down most enemies that stand in their path. Sadly, Geralt has dealt with monsters similar to Migi.
While he might be caught off guard at first, by using a combination of his signs and sword skills, Geralt could likely kill the duo.
5 Lose: Itachi Uchiha
Itachi is pretty skilled with a sword, but even without any weapons at all, he could likely overtake Geralt. Itachi is a formidable enemy who slaughtered his entire clan and possesses higher forms of the Sharingan Eye. In fact, the characters in Naruto even had a hard time finally defeating this complex character. Itachi would be able to quickly to over Geralt using his eyes.
Afterward, he could use the illusions he would trap the witcher in to keep him still while he snuck in for the finishing blow.
4 Win: Goblin Slayer
One of the most popular new anime characters is Goblin Slayer from the anime Goblin Slayer. The premise of the show is literally that Goblin Slayer aims to irradicate goblins from the world and is so skilled he might actually succeed. Sadly, being able to slay a bunch of weak goblins isn’t going to help him hold up in a fight against Geralt for long.
In one battle, the witcher would slowly wear down the Goblin Slayers’ armor and eventually take him out. After the battle, though, we have a feeling these two would become friends.
3 Lose: Ichigo Kurosaki
If you’ve watched Bleach, then you know that Ichigo quickly becomes a powerful protagonist with a plethora of supernatural moves. With just some of his powers from the shows first arc, it’s likely that Ichigo would stand a fair chance of taking down Geralt. This isn’t even counting on the possibility of the protagonist’s hollow form coming out at any point during the battle.
While Geralt may be able to beat a select few members of the Soul Society, characters like Ichigo could make quick work of the famous white wolf.
2 Win: Vicious
While we can’t deny that the main bad guy from Cowboy Bebop possesses some moves with his sword, he’s not on Geralt’s level. While Vicious could try to reach for a gun, he’d likely be cocky enough to fight Geralt with a sword alone. We can’t deny the fact that it would be great to see Vicious cut-down or burnt up with igni. We doubt that Geralt would have much sympathy for this villain, either.
Even given the way this character used most of the members of the Red Dragon syndicate, we have a feeling that Geralt could weasel his way out of the attack.
1 Lose: Ainz Ooal Gown
Ainz Ooal Gown is a ridiculously powerful mage from the series Overlord. Upon seeing Ainz, it’s likely that Geralt would start a fight, especially since he is quite monstrous-looking. Ainz is the most powerful magic-user in his world and can make quick work of those that oppose him. It’s likely that Geralt would barely make it a few steps before Ainz used an attack to eliminate him.
Even the mage’s underlings would likely be a challenge for poor Geralt, who isn’t used to dealing with sentient monsters on this level.
